Summary: i really want to give this guy high marks. i did alot of research before i bought it for my husband for christmas, and the reviews looked very good. my experience has not been so good. when it works, it works great. has easy to read screen, clear voice commands, simple navigaion features... unfortunatly, it has failed to work often, and trying to get garmin customer service help is next to impossible. 1st problem. it would not accept personal POI's.
Summary: For the price of this unit now (about $600), which I got from Amazon for $599 with no shipping or tax, it's a bargain. Received it and tested thus far for four days and no faults with it. Satellite reception good, directions good, mounting and setup easy. Will never fear getting lost again and may actually drive more now.
Summary: Love this unit, carry it with me when I travel. I had an in-dash unit, I would not bother again. I love the portable 2620, it is great. I have never had a problem with mine. I highly recommend it!
Summary: I purchased a refurbished model of the StreetPilot 2620 because I was told that it had the same warranty as a new model at half the price. The unit I got worked for about two weeks then started having numerous problems. It would consistently say "unable to load maps" or "can not read map data". I would have to turn it on and off about 6 or 7 times before it would decide to work.
Summary: My new Garmin StreetPilot 2620 was put to use last week when I asked "Gabby" to direct me from the San Francisco Bay Area through the Western entrance to the Yosemite Valley and down to El Portal California, just outside the Southern park entrance. It was an effortless experience, without a single hitch along the way.
Summary: Works very well in the car. You will never get lost. The unit is very stable sitting on the dashboard of the vehicle. Having a driving simulator is a nice touch for use indoors. I wish it could be used indoors with the speaker, and I wish the simulator could be optionally speeded up. Maybe Garmin can work on that.
Summary: This thing is great. I picked it up at the UPS hub took it straight out of the box in the parking lot and made it get me home. Easy to use...awesome. I show houses to prospective buyers all the time and the Garmin doesn't miss a lick.
Summary: The garmin is an excellent portable GPS unit. I considered purchasing the Roadmate 700 as well, but went with the Garmin because it has more point of interests. This unit works very well both on clear days and cloudy days without an external antenna. Recalculations are instantaneous and the directions are very accurate. The beanbag mount makes it very convenient to use in multiple cars. All the necessary accessories come right out of the box.
