Not at all happy with unit or seller (or Amazon)

DM, Amazon
20 August 2014
  • Summary: Seller reluctant to stand behind product -told me to go to the factory or support ! Item came without the topo maps it was supposed to have. Wiped out my computer twice trying to get it to interface with Garmin Web site. Over all a nightmare that is yet to be resolved from seller or amazon - the most disappointed I have been with a purchase in years !

Nice hiking GPS and basically a waterproof camera as well.

DMFN "DMFN", Amazon
13 July 2014
  • Summary: This is great for Hiking and offroad. I would find it more beneficial if it were effective on the road as well, for the price it should be. Road maps can be loaded on it for free from different sites, but it will not navigate a route, or call out the route with instruction... again this isn't what I bought it for, but it wouldn't take much to make it do all of that when cheap road GPS's cost $50.

Takes a little time

Iowa farm boy's brother, Amazon
27 March 2014
  • Summary: You have to use it a lot to become familiar with it- once you start downloading- really uploading- trails and geocaches and knowing how far you have hiked and how much farther it is to hike- elevation- etc- it makes hiking more enjoyable- but you have to keep working with it- you pay a little more for this model but you get the maps- very useful- and camera- but it seems like a first class device for a product that has been on the market that long- and Garmin phone...

Bought this only to have to return it right away.

JD Douglas, Amazon
5 January 2014
  • Summary: I bought this during the Christmas Season because of its features and price and was quite a bit disappointed. The unit I received came with manufacturing defeects in its camera lense. The menus are not at all intuitive. The screen brightness is dismal even in a lower light situation while the adjustments for the brightness are fairly hidden. The Unit uses what seems to me to be an older style of touch screen control interface.

  • Summary: I bought the Garmin Oregon 550T for my daughter who in into wilderness hikes and climbing the 14ers in Colorado where she attends grad school. Being a bit of an overprotective dad I want to equip her with the best equipment so she can make it back to civilization safely. I believe this is an excellent product and it is very easy to use.
