Pilot searcher

Brian D. Wyllie, Amazon
7 December 2011
  • Summary: This is the fourth GPS that I have owned and used for Geocaching. It is by far the best!! Now I know how all my friends with Oregons could do what they do in the field. I am still learning all the features, but so far it outperforms my Magellans and Delorme many times over. The "Touch Screen" verses buttons is way easier to use and the information available in the field is easy to access and extensive.

I like it, a little small but its OK.

Shawn, Amazon
16 October 2011
  • Summary: It is a little smaller than I like for viewing but if you are walking its perfect. If you use it for driving and navigating it's a little bit of an issue. I have used it in my car, on my street bike and on my dirt bike (now that's hard to read while bouncing around lol). I bought it mostly so when dirt bike riding in the forest I do not get lost (yeah that happened once and I bought this so never again).

Does the job but overpriced

Robert, Staples
9 August 2011
  • Excerpt: Works OK. Easy to get GPS on and off. However, it does not hold the GPS tightly so that it rattles in the mount. Also it was a lot of money for what is basically a piece of plastic.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Improves Functionality
  • Cons: GPS rattles in mount

Great GPS

Kevin Cryan, Amazon
27 November 2010
  • Summary: This GPS is very pocketable and the biner clips nicely to my backpack. I have used this unit for geocaching, hiking, and mountain biking and have been very pleased. My only recommendation is that you get lithium batteries, it will burn through alkaline batteries really quickly.

No 3d as advertised with pictures.

firehead, Amazon
21 September 2010
  • Summary: My biggest disappointment is that the 3d view isn't 3d at all. I live on the side of a mountain. Driving up to my house using the gps in 3d view you wouldn't think there is anything but flat land for miles and miles. Not even a bump appears on the screen. Other than this and the fact that the gps is a little thick, it works well.

Great product

Ryan Lovato, Amazon
2 June 2010
  • Summary: I bought this for geocaching. After buying 2 cheaper gps units before this one, I decided to buy this. I decided on this because of the touch screen. I have a IPhone and I was looking for a gps that was easy to use. Other gps I have tried were very confusing. I had no problem turning this on and using it without any instructions. I have no complaints with not being able to see the screen and I live in Arizona.

can't see it

mosi123 "red rocks", Amazon
12 May 2010
  • Summary: I tried very hard to see the screen and just couldn't make out anything that I need to see in order to use it while hiking. I go to dangerous places and need to know that I can rely on my gear. I've returned this for a refund and won't go with Garmin again until they fix this problem.

Very inaccurate.

H. HALL "Harvey", Amazon
6 April 2010
  • Summary: i felt for the money it was very inaccurate. It shows the location of my house 2-3 streets away from where it should be. Very disappointed !! My previous Magellan 330 (always within 3 meters or less) must have spoilt me because it makes this look like junk.

D. Smith "hiker/biker/motorcyclist", Amazon
3 April 2010
  • Summary: The display is almost useless any time of the day . Any degree of sunlight renders the display almost useless. I followed all the suggestions and the displays porformance was very bad . All the other functions and features work as indicated. This was a bad purchase for me .

I Need A "GPS For Dummies" Book

P. Jones "pjgeriatric", Amazon
7 March 2010
  • Summary: My husband and I are always venturing into the backwoods and onto strange and scenic waterways to fish and we thought it was time to invest in a GPS unit and enter the 21st century, so we bought the Oregon 400T. I think it has excellent features, but I don't know, because it does not come with any kind of operations manual. We downloaded the PDF file from (...
