Summary: This is a great GPS! Accepts verbal direction, gives good directions and is relatively easy to install and use. Features many extras that adds convenience to almost any trip: restaurants, gas stations, points of interest as well as Bluetooth for your phone.
Summary: I own a Nuvi-780 and this Nuvi-885T. I got this, because, I find, I need to mess with it while driving. And well, that's not, that good of an idea... Mostly, I'm happy with it. In general, its better than my 780. Pro's: Voice command. Has mp3 player. Music player, works seamlessly between the BT and the direction (while playing music, the direction, interrupt, the music resumes). Faster screen draw. Better overall feel (GUI). Easy replaceable battery. Boots faster.
Summary: This is my first review and first GPS. I did a lot of research on different GPS makes and models before deciding that the Nuvi 885T was the one that most interested me. Even though it has been discontinued, it has all the features that I wanted in a GPS. It has all the bells and whistles that a GPS can offer, Text to Speech, voice recognition, lane assist, junction view and speed limit indication. I find those features useful when driving in unfamiliar roads.
Summary: What's not to like,it's hands free, voice activated,I took it out of the box, turned it on,turned on "Bluetooth"... turned the bluetooth on for my cell phone, it found my phone in seconds, downloaded my phone book, a few minutes later I received a phone call through the garmin, I said "Answer" and my conversation was going through the FM on my radio speakers. my hands never left the steering wheel. It's the most simple device I ever had to set up.
Summary: THE CONVIENCE OF HANDS FREE VOICE OPERATION! THE GPS AQUIRES A SIGNAL INSTANTANEOUS WHRE I LIVE AND THE SAME GOES FOR THE MSN DIRECT. THE ONLY DOWNFALL IS THE MSN DIRECT WILL NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE AFTER 2012. BUT ALL IN ALL THIS IS A GREAT GARMIN GPS.
Summary: Garmin GPS's are by far the easiest to operate. I have tried TOM TOMs, the Navigon and lots of others and I always come back to the Garmin. Now for the 885t. It is the best GPS you can buy, however since it has so many features built in it, it will lock up from time to time, and you have to take the battery out to un freeze it. I think due to this problem it is hard to find these for sale at like a Fry's or Best Buy because of this flaw.
Summary: I have just upgraded from my old Nuvi 760 which I was very happy with to the 885T. So far I am very happy with the product. The 885T is very similar to the 760 and has pretty much the same features. I am still getting used to the voice activation and commands. Not too impressed so far. I have to shout the command a few times for it to accept.
Summary: Bought this unit for the hands free bluetooth function and MSN Direct. Hands free phone calls are barely usable, even through the FM radio. Was not aware that MSN is discontinuing service at the end of 2011 when purchasing unit. This was one of the main reasons that I purchased the unit. The Voice recognition works excellent. It is even more useful once one learns the shortcuts. Your are able to do virtually anything without taking your hands off the wheel.
Summary: It is very user friendly. I have a Nuvi 350 and the 885T was a easy transition. The voice activation is what should me on this unit. It is better than the ones that are built in your car because it is portable and the price is 1/8th the cost of a installed unit.
Summary: I bought this Garmin reciever to guide me down the road with Garmin expertice and using the unit to tell me about traffic, change routes and answer the phone while keeping your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road,
