Summary: This was a very good GPS unit, when it was working right. It had a lot of features that I liked (I won't list them, since the product description already does). If not for the problems I list below, I would have rated it 5 stars. Problem 1: It would occasionally freeze up while in use. This started happening a few months after I bought it. If I was using it's integrated music player when this happened, I would know right away because it would go silent.
Summary: Was buying 200 series for x-mas gifts, when testing I liked so much I purchased the 855 for myself, mainly because it has a built in MP3 player that plays through your car stereo, while still geting turn by turn directions and traffic, again, all through your car stereo. It's 4.3 screen is just right, don't need to strain to see.I bought this and took a trip to Lake Placid, NY. Very accurate for ETA! I took every backroad I could find on the way home, never getting lost.
The rebuilt Garmin GPS from eBay surpassed my expectations. Great buy!

Summary: I love the Garmin GPS, I recently purchased on ebay. I bought it to replace an older model, for a recent trip to Italy. It performed flawlessly and abled me to find out of the way places that I would never have been able to find without it. I paid a fraction of the price that I would have had to for a new Garmin GPS. When I received the refurbished unit, it was packaged and appeared to be new. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
Summary: The 855 has a big advantage and big disadvantage. Big Advantage: Voice activation. Commands can be spoken instead of being entered on the touch screen, so it is not necessary to stop. For a RVer pulling a travel trailer, this feature is very useful when approaching a freeway on-ramp and not knowing whether to use the right or left lane.
Summary: Its an excellent item to those who travel every day, its a very good tool to find places.I love it. You can learn about others places and they location, the easy way to go there. Its easy to use and simple.
Summary: I already owned one Garmin nuvi 855, I bought this one to put on my old Harley for those long road trips. The only flaw I found is common among all GPS receivers not just the nuvi 855. That flaw became apparent on a recent trip into San Francisco, when traffic came to a stand still on the overhead freeway system the GPS device thought by my reduced speed that I was on the surface street below and gave me some crazy directions.
Summary: If you have the money to buy a brand new model do it. To start with this GPS was not recognizable to my pc, after over 2 hours of jumping through hoops, I reached no satisfaction(with regards to interfacing with my pc). I could not update maps, because My pc could not detect the GPS unit. I want to be clear, as long as you don`t have a problem plugging it in a running it as you recieve it..that is to say the unit did work in my car on a short trip I recently made..
