Summary: Bought this 780 in the spring of 2008. It's been a great product. Just replaced the battery Aug 2014. Garmin still worked great when plugged in. But the battery wouldn't hold a charge. (date on original battery 11-16-07) When new, the Garmin battery lasted several hours UN-plugged, (4-8) before quitting. Nice screen size, great resolution and color. Easy to see in the daylight, auto switches for night vision. Common sense usefulness.
780 is a great device, but don't buy a used RED WHERE2 unit!

Summary: IMPORTANT BEFORE BUYING A GARMIN RED GPS (Especially 780 or WHERE2) READ THIS! The Garmin 7xx line is a great one. I found out the hard way (as did the seller) that RED Garmins are often former (stolen/lost) ABG property. I found out ABG means Avis/Budget group. These units will usually say WHERE2 on them and give a 1800 number to call if found. UPON LOSS THEY BECOME USELESS.
Best of the best of the best. Money that is saved in fuel is well spend.

Summary: One of the best GPS systems in the market. Easy to use, FM transmitter makes it easy to connect your music to your car radio also carry a phone conversation through your vehicle speaker. View your pix album in your car away from home. The only down side with this system is once in while it freezes up and you have to connect it to your computer to started again. Over all one of the best system in the market and it is no longer available at any retail stores.
Summary: A very good GPS model from Garmin, this unit catches signal fast and can be useful to make your travel trips from home. FM transmission is low powered but serves the purpose, I got a 16 GB memory card for this unit and now I can play songs and make this unit work as my music system/ GPS.
Summary: I have had other GPS units and I liked this model so much that I bought another one for my work truck. The only thing I will tell you is do not be looking at the MSN features (gas prices, movie times, traffic) as the MSN program has been discontinued.
Summary: I have had many GPS systems since they first came out as I can not read a map while moving. This is by far the best yet. First the screen does not wash out in the sunlight. Second because you can scroll the map around it can be used as a real map for finding options. Bringing back the old way points should also make it possible for YOU to plan your route and not just have to go their way or from town to town.
Summary: I'm not sure where the previous guy bought his 780,but it sounds like he should've bought it elsewhere.I drive for a living and none of the things mentioned by other reviewer are true of my unit.Works perfectly, easy to operate and undertand.Just returned from a 7400 mile trip across country without a single issue!I'd buy this again.I've seen other brands of comparably priced gps units that I wouldn't give $5 for. This 780 is as good as it gets...
Summary: I bought 3 of these one for me, one for my son and one for my friend. They all love them. Before this one , I had one stolen out of my car parked in the drive way so lock your car they do steal them. They do pop off your windshield too. Mine did and hit the emergency blinker lites switch and started them blinking all night so I woke up to a dead battery.
Summary: Great product. Clear, easy to use screen & instructions. Easy to figure out - works great with Bluetooth to cell phone & FM receiver so the sound can come from the vehicles radio speakers (which are much more comfortable to listen to) Has so many added features such as currency converter, calculator, mp3 player, photo viewer, keyboard can be qwerty or abc, tells you what speed you are travelling (just realized out speedometer is out about 12 km - may have saved us a...
