One of the cheaper bluetooth, mp3, and 3d max nav gpses around.
9 June 2011
Summary: I think this product is a big step up from the 750 offering on top of mp3 player assisted navigation of lane changing and better 3d display of maps, plus the bluetooth, while a bit flaky, is still a sweet feature. I don't know if the unit itself can be to blame however I had a lot of trouble with FM Transmitter in this gps just randomly quitting and not working at all until I powered down the unit and started it back up.
Summary: I like that it comes with US and Europe maps. One must be accurate with where one touches the screen. It is sensative and a stylus would help. I have not tried out all the features but it has a ton.
Summary: Upon moving to Italy I quickly discovered a navigation unit isn't just a nice to have item, it's a necessity. I rented a Tom-Tom 940T but was very frustrated with it's performance so, since my first navigation unit was a tri-mode (Aviation, Marine, Auto) Garmin that performed flawlessly, I decided to check out Garmin's latest auto navigation units. Pros: Acquires Satellites Quickly, Easy To Read, Easy To Set Up, Reliable Performance
Summary: It was supposed to come preloaded with a map of Turkey and it didn't. Calling garmin is a pain, with each hold time being a minimum of 30 min. The first rep had no clue what she was talking about and the problem wasn't solved. The next rep (after another 30+ min wait) gave me the download.
Pros: Acquires Satellites Quickly, Easy To Read, Easy To Set Up, Large Screen
Summary: Set up and used a few times in US and UK. US - loaded map in reasonable time, has a good set of preloaded locations (stores, etc). Operation is straightforward. UK map loading took a while and I thought it had crashed the machine. After messing around and restarting it, then being VERY patient, it all worked. Probably confused as to its home. Now works fine.
Summary: Good: 1) Acquired satellites fast. 2)Big, wide and bright screen. 3) Loud and clear volume Bad: 1) The car charger is a different one than most other Garmin units, which used to be interchangeable. But this one has a different one than the usual USB type car charger. 2) The user manual is not a detailed one and such good product requires a lot more than provided documentation to use it to the full capability.
Pros: Acquires Satellites Quickly, Compact, Easy Menus, Easy To Read, Large Screen
Summary: This is my first GPS so I can't really compare it to other systems but comparing the prices this one is one of the most expensive. The system is not perfect but it gets you where you want to go, if not the first time than on the second time for sure. I bought it about a month ago for my trip to Texas (I live in Chicago) and it helped me get there. I am not sure if it actually chooses the best routs to the destination but I got there.
Summary: This is a pretty good GPS for an auto GPS and I got it for my wife because it included the European maps since we'll be traveling there next year. It was very easy to set up and get rolling with and it finds the satellites quickly. It also gives a good lead time when giving directions. Imediately after one direction is accomplished it will show an arrow in the upper left corner (with mileage to) what your next turn will be.
Pros: Acquires Satellites Quickly, Compact, Easy Menus, Easy To Read, Easy To Set Up, Large Screen, Reliable Performance, Simple Controls
Cons: Low Volume, Short Battery Life, Static radio interface
