Summary: Some features are good, others are bad. On the good side the screen is easy to see, working with it from the driver's side is easy enough. The info on attractions, food etc. is reasonably useful. The spoken directions are clearly heard, either through the unit itself or over the car sound system, depending on which mode I have selected. But it is those directions, pretty much the reason you buy a gps, that reflect the bad.
Summary: I've had an older Nuvi before and I was happy with that. With this new one, while Lane assist and Junction view are helpful, the unit has two major flaws (even after firmware upgrade) that make it rather unusable for me: 1- The unit hangs randomly (i.e., becomes unresponsive for several seconds).
Summary: I've had this unit for a while now. I'll admit that I have never had any issues the quality of the navigation. But there are two main issues with it: First, the screen is hyper-sensitive and there is some kind of flaw in its construction. You touch a key, and the character that appears on the screen is from a key that is not even close to the key you touched. The character will be from a key on the other side of the keyboard! I happens pretty much all the time.
Summary: First of all, I'll try to throw the negative issues here first; if you can overlook mine as you gather the 765T's feedback with others, then feel free to look at the good things. And some bad/ugly may be also good, and vice-versa. THE BAD (and UGLY): I've had the 765T since late last fall 2009.
Summary: I pay 2 time higher than my 260 and And I got a bigger screen ... Soooooooo disapionted ... I hope Garmin support will fix that ... especially TTS ! Like that it's completely unusable !
Pros: -Fast Satellite
Cons: -Text to speech (Street Name) in french is completely just HORRIBLE (compare to my old and cheap 260) -Slow ... option have a strange lag , and refresh of map is slow or seem freeze and continue after a delay ...
Summary: I have had this device just over 2 weeks and traveled from Los Angeles to Colorado. It was an early xmas gift Well first off the device came with a nice scratch on the screen which is not horribly noticeable but you should be ready to receive a not perfect device. I have been back and fourth with Garmin for several days because the clock even when set manually is off by 1 hour for all functions other then just the time.
Summary: Unit frequently locks-up and requires a reboot. It gets warm when charging, considerably more so than my other Nuvi models, like 350. Entering address info can take sometimes up to 7 seconds for the touch screen to respond. Recalibration screen has been moved to a hidden easter egg. Even after recalibration, unit has touch screen issues like incorrectly selecting the wrong position. Not recommended.
Pros: FM Traffic Lane Assist Junction View Garmin mapping software larger internal storage capacity Better position accuracy FM transmitter
Cons: Poor and sluggish performance Slow map rendering FM Traffic often gets disabled and asks you to go online and activate before you can use, but when you go online you have to purchase a subscription Some map older mapping software (.img) files not compatible Known issues with the touch screen
Summary: The unit has been returned to Garmin for repair or battery replacement. Let's hope that they can fix this one. Overall rating of 2 eggs based on the battery issues. Otherwise, it would get 4 eggs.
Pros: 1. Nice interface, generally speaking. 2. Eco-route mildly amusing. 3. Lane assist is neat (if available in your area). 4. Amusing text-to-speech options.
Cons: 1. Battery life is less than five minutes, even after a full charge. 2. FM transmit mode works ok, but the interface is very cumbersome. 3. Garmin tech support is ok, but the wait time has been over 20 minutes on two occasions. 4. Battery not replaceable by user.
Summary: From my cons, you can tell that I am very unhappy with this product. If I could return it now, I would, but am beyond my return period. I want to emphasize that waiting for Garmin's support to come through is agonizing. Seriously, at least 1 hour to wait each time on the phone. An, well, e-mail support just ended up telling me to call in after they couldn't resolve anything via e-mail.
Pros: Easy to understand onscreen display, great car mount
Cons: An updated provided by Garmin caused my Garmin to be reboot needing replacement, my replacement was a refurb when my new Garmin was only 2 months old, and now my refurb won't turn on and it's only "2 months old", had to wait over 50 minute wait for telephone tech support (this has happened at least 3 times already), online e-mail support has an error when sending, Houston directions are rather unreliable, Traffic updates are unreliable on both clear channel and Navteq.
