Summary: This is an excellent device. I bought one 3 years ago when they first came out ($800) and have used it extensively. I bought several extra mounts and power cords to transition them easily to any of our vehicles. I even bought a mount for my electra glide harley davidson that holds it securely in place. It works as advertised in all vehicles with no glitches. The only issue I've found is that the maps should be updated regularly.
Summary: Easy to use and gives excellent directions. Original unit failed right near the end of the warranty period. Technical Service tried to help me fix it but I had to send it in to be replaced. Had new refurbished unit within a week. Has a wealth of information in it including elevations. Suggest using the dash mount which is a lot more secure and unit can be lowered to be virtually out of your line of sight when driving.
Summary: I love this thing. Its great that it'll give you nearby restaurants, grocery stores, ETC.BIG thing- before you prgram the destination, it gives the exact address w/ phone number-so you can call in a reservation while en route(awesome feature)!! its easy to use and usually gets great signal. I moved out to the country, and its been very helpful to keep me from getting lost on those long back roads.
Summary: Love the GPS and the endless cool features it has(Have the nuvi 660 w/2009 map) Pros: The external antenna keeps reception indoors or outdoors, easy to use as with most Garmin GPS, The traffic function if set up is awesome (saved me from a couple jams), Bluetooth is fun (reads text messages to you) and so is audible book (reads books to you ex: bible, etc; free trials are givin but you pay afterwards). The sound on MP3 is good and fm transmitter is nice feature too.
Summary: I really love my nuvi. It's sleek and love the wide screen design. The features are terrific, including the hands-free calling. You can even use the device or the phone feature through your car stereo system. I had 2 other Garmins before this one. The first, way back when, had a flaw so I brought it back and got the Garmin 550c which I LOVED, but I broke it (don't ask!) and couldn't live without my Garmin. I saw this on ebay and got it at a great price.
Pros: I love the Audible book feature. The maps are easy to follow. The navigation around the unit itself is very easy.
Cons: Bluetooth STINKS on this unit. The unit won't stay connected to my phone and always disconects and then locks up the unit. I have to constantly load a firmware update sent to me by Garmin to fix the problem only to have it happen again.
Summary: Well I purchased a Garmin Nuvi 660 and to my surprise it was a 680 instead. First of all it was small and easy to use. It booted up in less than a minute. The display is nice and clear easy to read. It was nice that it knew to day and night as well. Very easy to use had satellite inside my house sitting on my couch in less than 45 seconds. it had me pinpointed in with less than a 16 foot accuracy.
Summary: I have used a few dozen different GPS models; everything from the simplest hand-held, marine designs, vehicle versions, rugged military models and even high-end custom-made computer versions. This is most likely one of the easiest and complete consumer GPS interfaces out there. The unit comes w/ a one year free service to MSN Direct, a MP3 player, Bluetooth and several other goodies The only downfall of the GPS is the FM transmitter to play your MP3s, directions, phone...
