Summary: I bought the Garmin Nuvi 660 years ago from Amazon (2005 or so). I don't remember if I ever wrote a review. I just (for the 3rd time since owning it) updated the software tonight. This excruciatingly painfully slow process (on a DSL line it took nearly 3 hours and then more than an hour to update the unit) is so maddening that I probably will not keep this unit much longer. That is belly-ache number one.
Summary: I bought this for my boyfriend and it worked okay for nearly 2 years. By that time, the unit didn't hold a charge at all so it had to be continuously plugged in or you'd have to plug it in and restart it. Also, the maps got very out of date and it would have been expensive to upgrade them - I thought it would be better to get a new gps, but my bf kept using it until its last dying breath, which was rather painful since it seemed like every time he took it on a trip with...
Summary: I have had the Garmin Nuvi 660 for several years, that's the good news. I must say for quite a while it performed fairly well. However, now that I have paid for the life time map updates, the unit has declined to the point that it is unusable. First problem was that the battery life was awful. The battery declined very quickly such that it was impossible to use the unit without having it on its cradle. That rendered using it while walking impossible.
except it not much good for this either as it is the wrong shape

Summary: I foolishly did not properly check the dimensions of this carrying case before I ordered it, and it turned out to be much larger than I had expected. It is described as being a carrying case suitable for the Garmin Edge cycle computer, but it is much too large for this and it is also too thin to offer any substantial protection. It is of a size more conducive to holding a larger car sat nav, except it not much good for this either as it is the wrong shape!
Summary: My original mount had a suction cap failure, hence the need for a replacement. This suction cup is fine. However, the ball is a shade smaller than the original GARMIN product which means the sat-nav unit does not sit firmly and flops about. This means the socket needs to be padded out with a piece of cloth. Works, to a point.
