Summary: I decided to go the refurb route to save some money. It was all nicely packed without any cosmetic issues that I found. It appeared new in a box and functions as a new one would. We did update it ( free) and have not had any issues. It is used daily in my line of work and only lost signal once due an EXTREME rural area I was in.
Summary: Easy to use and update (make sure the USB cable you use carries data and not just power). Does not lose satellite reception easily. Like all GPS devices, the directions are occasionally wonky, so it's generally best to do a reality check beforehand to get a general idea of the route. Voice navigation is clear, and street names are well-pronounced for the most part.
Summary: I have used this Garmin one week and only in the local area. This is the reason I am only giving it four stars. It was easy to set up and so far have worked perfect. If it works as good on road trips it should have a five star rating. This is my first Garmin and at this point I am very pleased.

Excerpt: I purchased this product because a friend of mind has one and really loves it. I found this garmin to be a great product and very user friendly. This product has many great qualities. The screen size is great, voice very well-defined. (clear), and easy to follow. The update features for your maps for the life-time of the product which is great. I like to travel and my garmin has gotten me to my location each time without any problems.
Summary: I bought this unit to replace an older TomTom. While this unit has a few features that I think are better than my old GPS, it has a couple major downsides. One small complaint is the packaging you get with a refurb. The Garmin comes with it's various pieces just lumped in a generic box, with only a bubble envelope for protection, and this allows the unit to bounce around in the box with the other pieces.
Excerpt: I purchaged this Garmin Nuvi 52 LM to replace my previous Tom Tom 1535 TM which broken by an accident. Compare with Tom Tom, it has some thing better: Catch signal fast when starting. Map upgrade when connect with computer is fast too. I like the most the way Garmin control the device. Icons on screen is simple but effective.Cons: Instruction voice is not clear. It's hard for me to recognize throughly what it said.
