Summary: I tried out the NUVI 50LM for the first time today, and it routed me all over the place, and mostly in the completely opposite direction of where I wanted to go. I had been to this destination before which is 26 miles southwest of my home.

Summary: Works basically as expected, but it kept recalculating the route when I made turns on the route I had entered. This happened the first time I used it, so I may have a defective unit. My last Nuvi did not have this issue.
Summary: I just received today and upon first look the Unit was very dirty with fingerprints on screen. I looked at other items in box and the suction cup mount has something sticky on it as well as a dry thick substance all over it.
Summary: Garmin has super products and as a professional captain in Florida I used many Garmin units on boats on the Atlantic. Loved every one of them! However....on land, their units didn't do the job for me.
Summary: This product IS NOT reliable. It works well when it works, in fact it would be tremendously useful and worth its weight in gold if it actually continued to run while you were driving. I bought this unit for a recent trip to Boston's north shore.
