Summary: Bought this to replace a Lowrance...ooppss....bad choice - weak antennas in this Garmin series means plunking down $30 for an external antenna just to get a signal. No battery.....and now I am attempting my second map update in 2 years....and it says NOPE - not enough space on device. So much for lifetime map updates. Hey Garmin, if I wanted music on my GPS, I would have bought an iPod (oh, wait, I did....so why do I need music on my GPS - right, I don't).
Summary: We have been Garmin fans for many years and like their products over others we've seen. I bought this unit for my husband from Amazon for Christmas because of the larger screen and the fact that the MSN gives you gas prices and other features. Well, I think I made a mistake. My husband only drives about 30 miles to work, and this unit locks up every day. The only way to get it running again is to unplug it and wait for it to start up again.
Summary: I have used a Garmin GPS 60c for years and decided it was time to get something easier to see and work with. This sounded ideal as I drive a Freightliner Truck towing my Travel Trailer. But the truck noise made using the FM connection mandatory. (There goes my books on tape). But the worst is the poor navigation.
Summary: I am a long time owner of the Garmin StreetPilot 2720 and bought the NUVI 5000 for the larger screen. The larger screen is great but, it's performance is poor. A lot of the time routing is just bad, routing me in circles. Sometimes it tries to route me via an old destination. The POI function, even with the "On current route" feature shows POIs behind me and far off route. I am a Garmin fan but, I regret this purchase.
