Summary: This GPS works as well as any other Nuvi product for auto navigation. As a matter of fact, it works great for auto navigation in my experience. However, this unit is billed as a crossover GPS that is also suitable for marine, geocaching, hiking, and other outdoor use, and it falls well short in all these categories. Pros: - Works great for auto navigation.
Summary: doesnt work . broken i havent been able to use it . Doesnt let me type in a dirction . I took it to Radioshack and best buy but the could'nt do anything , they said that its doesnt work property i want to see if they coulnd sent me a new one.
Summary: I based my one star rating on extremely poor customer service and the fact that the Nuvi 500 is NOT updated for 2008-2009. When I called to ask for the update I was told due to the topo and other map features on the Nuvi 500 there is no update yet. The best part was when the customer "service" rep asked me why didn't I get the 550? I was directed to a more senior rep's answering machine. Of course I have received no return phone calls, nor return email.
Summary: I just got a nuvi 500 and I would never buy another Garmin product. Garmin doesn't include an owner's manual- you have to download one. To register the product you have to go to Garmin and download a plug-in to your browser. The downloaded manual sucks. They don't include an AC adapter. As if you didn't pay enough already, they are happy to sell you one.
"organizing multiple waypoints cause drops or duplicates"
4 April 2009
Pros: can be used for geocaching and hiking. Great contour lines
Cons: Organizing multiple waypoints causes drops and duplicates. If you make changes in waypoints, you might end up with duplicates and others deleted. Garmen can duplicate problem, and has not resolved problem. (2months)
