Summary: I moved to PA from Colorado and needed this truckers GPS to help me at my job. However, it simply does not work as advertised. It gives false alerts when your on a road that is ok for trucks but more importantly, it directs you onto illegal bridges and low tunnels just like the car GPS. Best advise, go with the high end car GPS and be careful.
Summary: We drive a 40' motor home thus the reason for wanting this particular GPS. On the first trip we stayed off course more than on course, the unit would sometimes make turns and navigate parallel with the correct road. Most of the time we could make corrections before we got into trouble, you can't turn these rigs around in tight places, I am sure the trucker that use this unit feel the same way.
Summary: truck specific routing most "car" routes are removed fro the software. these devices are in the process of being banned from all commercial motor vehicles due to many drivers using the standard auto motive types and getting into a heap of trouble. byt using restricted routes. simply because this more truck specific unit is simply to cost prohibitive.. i want to thank the corporate greed of garmin for making my job so much easier now.
Pros: accurate routing to the high extent of commercial motor vehicles. avoids low underpasses 99% of the time. many routes are designated to be used by trucks.
Cons: there are better out there but you get what you pay for..
Summary: If you are buying this gps to be used in a truc, stop and save your money. I have had mine for about three months now and I can't count how many times it has tried to send me down weight limited roads, under low overpasses, onto length limited roads and through residential areas. Today in Holyoke, MA I was north bound on s. canal st at main st. The nuvi wanted me to continue north and a block ahead of me I could see an 11' 6" clearance sign and just past it a 10' sign.
Summary: have to agree with above review. GPS functions great but just cannot hear ANY messages over the background noise while going down the road. also the truck specific poi are missing a lot of locations, at least around where i live. UPDATE:09/2009 4 stars not 2 old nuvi660 is about dead so decided to give nuvi465t another try. volume seems to be a little louder on this unit but still not as loud as the 660.
Summary: For truck drivers: this is NOT a GPS for you. It is a regular car GPS with some extras. It will calculate your route from point A to point B and then there will be an icon (inveriably so) that says it's not preferable truck route. That's all it does. That is the only difference between car gps and truck gps. There is no truck specific route that the gps calculates. It just tells you that you are on "non-preferable" route.LMAO (Why,that's precisely why I got the GPS so it...
Summary: The 465T is not quite there yet. It feels like a car gps with a couple truck features thrown in. PROS: Nice Display w/auto night/day. Free Lifetime traffic. Categorize your favorites. Excellent signal reception. Multiple vehicle profiles. Bluetooth speakerphone. Multistop routing. CONS: Favorites limited to 1,000 entries. Custom POI's are downright painful and can't be modified without a computer. Can't route with a via only with stops.
Summary: I bought the 465T back in July and so far I give this unit a C for trucks. The truck routing of this GPS is just horrible at times. It has routed me down dark residential side streets with low tree branches, when there was actually a truck designated route available. On several other occasions it took me off a main interstate, to throw me on a secondary highway for no particular reason, only to end up on the same interstate again.
Summary: Used for 25 days and return it,. Need a strong speaker, bigger screen. Advised don't go away , you have to manually press ok. PA Turnpike (70 & 76) where they run together!! for this one are two roads,(1 next to the other). Not a problem in car mode. We still need Pause option on gps., We need to fuel, breaks, restrooms..etc. but gps keep....turn around , and you have to cancel o shut it off. Get the Street Pilot 7200 and happy with it.
