Summary: I used this product while travelling on vacation. It worked great and was an absolute necessity for areas that I was not familiar with. The battery life was a bit disappointing as I had to keep connecting the charger toward the end of my trips. As I used it on vacation, I wish there was a custom storage case to pack the unit as well as the accessories when travelling. If I had to get another unit in the future, I would get the larger screen units for ease of use.
Summary: Don't know what we would have done without Garmin, having lived in five states and 13 houses, not to mention the road trips we have taken for pleasure. We got this one for our new (used) car and are retiring our oldest one, because AT LAST we are entitled to lifetime free map updates. The oldest got a $100 map update; the next one got a $50 map update. This one should at least hold us until they drop its tech support.
Summary: I am very satisified with the Garmin Nuvi 44LM. After reviewing some of the reviews of the newer models, I decided to purchase this one. I did not want the hassel of the advertisements on the live traffic reports, and some of the newer features that just makes things more complicated. This is easy, quick and accurate.
Summary: Although I do have some issues with Garmin and their software upgrades this new unit appears to be a very good step up from my Nuvi 350, which just so happens to no longer be able to upgrade my North American Maps because of software.
Summary: I bought as a replacement for an older model whose maps were greatly out of date. Finds satellites much faster than my old one. Works about the same, but I miss the "recalculating" comment that alerted me when I missed the turn. Lane helper feature takes a bit getting used to, but is a nice enhancement. Update of maps took a couple tries - ended up using their older software rather than the Garmin Express.
