Summary: If you don't update the maps, this unit may work for you. But, part of buying a unit with Lifetime maps is updating maps. I downloaded Garmin Express to my Windows 7 system, made sure it was the latest version, and then plugged in my nuvi. When it had finished updating per Garmin Express, I disconnected my unit, put it in the car, and turned it on. Imagine my surprise when it said the detailed maps were missing.
Summary: I have been a loyal Garmin customer for at least a decade or so and this is probably the 5th (and worst) Garmin unit that I have owned. My old 255w died and I was looking for a replacement. The unit basically gets me where I need to go. Battery dies fairly quickly (if not plugged in). I would say the battery works for about 40 minutes (then unit dies) which is way less than advertised.
Summary: Bought a Garmin in 2008 and used it until it stopped working. Great unit. So, naturally when I was going on a trip out of state for business, I bought another Garmin. ( I do NOT have a smart phone) Paid extra for this one since it has the Alaska maps (I'm there alot), unfortunately, it was driving in the lower 48 that the Garmin couldn't handle. (Yes, i updated everything before I left) TEST #1 (Oklahoma City) So, I check into my hotel, and put "Walmart" into Garmin.
Was hoping for new maps - old unit still works but misdirects me - hope the replacement from Amazon works. Great service.

Summary: Could not activate the unit. Tried two computers and two different usb cables as per Garmin suggestions. I also tried to charge the unit in a vehicle for several hours in case the battery was down - no success. Amazon was excellent in providing a return authorization and have already begun the process of shipping out a replacement. Five stars for Amazon.
