Summary: We are not satisfied with this GPS. We had trouble setting it up and did not have some of the features we were used to on a GPS we have used tor years. There was no beep when we were to make an exit or change course. We could not see our entire trip mapped out for us.
Although happy with the various GPS systems on my cell phone
6 August 2015
Summary: Although happy with the various GPS systems on my cell phone, I decided to purchase the Garmin 42LM due to the lack of cell towers in some of my travels. In these area it is somewhat helpful however the lack of updated maps in areas of Nevada with streets are over a year old are disappointing & I...
GarminExpressInstaller.exe acts like a virus, not an updater.
27 July 2015
Summary: The hardware is pretty good, but the software ... Let's just say (very kindly) that the promise of "Lifetime Updates" is misleading, and, perhaps, dangerous. I hadn't run the updater for awhile, until, while driving, I became aware that the map was seriously out of date about highway changes.
Summary: The very first day I used this GPS within 2 minutes it lead me to a dead end road and told me to continue for 3 miles. I was often directed to go miles just to make a U-turn when there were options right in front of me. About 3 weeks later it went blank and I never tried to use it again.
Summary: Their website is awful. Hard to use. How can they send a device out that may already need a fix? I can't get past the Garmin logo, which I will now always connect with bad products. I gave it a two on the chance they will fix this easily. I anticipate returning this via Amazon in 3 days.
YOU NEED TO BUY A MINI USB CORD SO YOU CAN CONNECT TO YOUR COMPUTER

Summary: Extremely frustrating. The instructions that come with this are similar to the IKEA instructions. Are we getting too stupid to understand words these days? I've been going in circles on the website trying to figure stuff out, and I'm pretty computer literate.
Like all GPS the directions it gives are accurate - keeping in mind that it is a brainless machine

Summary: The directions are fine, however this unit has a prominent Achilles heel. The audio instructions are given though a tiny speaker in the unit does not provide the clarity I am used to with other more expensive Garmins I have worked with.
