  • Summary: I purchased the 40LM Garmin GPS mainly due to the price and lifetime maps offer. The quality has been very good, it is easy to use, and I would definitely recommend it.

  • Summary: Haven't used it yet for travel. Easily set up some places will be going in a few days. Checked points of interest for my are and found a lot of places listed that have been closed up for a few years. They need to check on this and make changes, because it is bad when you think you are going to find a place, then drive a while to find out it is no longer there. Has happened to me with my older GPS and hasn't changed yet!

solid, dependable Garmin

  • Excerpt: I got this as a replacement for a 6 year old Garmin nuvi 255w that had finally died. I worried that the smaller screen would be a problem, but I haven't noticed any difference in ability to navigate and see as much of the map as I need to. I really like the new (to me) lane assist function; when coming to an intersection with multiple lanes, the top left corner shows the number of lanes and highlights the one you should be in.

Good unit, but only get it if the 50LM isn't for you.

  • Summary: This is a great unit. As an owner of a driving school we use them exclusively. I've bought 6 so far. This is essentially the same as the Nuvi 50LM, but smaller. The 50LM is actually a better value and easier to use due to its screen size, but I bought this one because the 5 inch models don't quite fit within the my center console of my wife's car, which is where I like it for her purposes.
