Summary: This is an excellent device; its response time, the sound quality, and the images are really good. I have used it only for a few weeks and so cannot speak about its longevity. Apart from the device as a GPS product, the seller had advertised it as NEW; however, the package that arrived clearly...
Summary: When it comes to navigation, I prefer a stand alone unit versus a smartphone. I wanted the best for the money. This choice was easy. I was a Tom Tom guy for many years. Never disliked them, but wanted something sleeker and with better graphics. This Garmin is great.
Summary: The 3490LMT is one of the thinnest units Garmin has ever made and is apparently the last thin 4.3" automotive Garmin that has been released. Yes, it's a fairly old unit that was released in 2011, but here's why I love it.
Summary: I had to retire my old 765t garmin (problematic from day one), I started to look at new garmin (2014 lines), they are good but to keep the price down they have cut lots of corners and removed many of the useful features compare to 2012 lines they are "water-down" version of garmin.
Summary: I have owned and operated 5 different Garmin GPS units over the past 10 years and have had many fights with my mechanical helpers. I developed a strong dislike for the phrases: "RECALCULATING" and "If possible, make a U-turn".
Summary: I had used the 2595 for about 2years and found that it lagged at times during routing, rerouting and keyboard inputing. This 3490 model is faster on all three aspect and that's exactly what I thought I'd be upgrading for and am very satisfied.
Summary: I have stuck with the Garmin Nuvi brand of navigation since my first purchase of the 800 series. I liked their products a lot a lot, bought two more for family and friends. The Nuvi was getting very old, but worked still and then someone broke into my CRV and stole it.
Summary: The voice sounds a bit tinny and has a lisp,(compared to the Garmin unit I now have) I don't know if it is due to a poor speaker or what. Other than the voice, I love the devise. I love the hands free, Voice Command option, It recognizes what I am saying about 80% of the time.
