I hate this GPS.
Screen Lock: It does not have one. If it gets stolen, the thief has a working GPS (and the route to your home), and you have nothing. why garmin would omit this most basic lock feature is beyond me.
Battery: The battery lasts about 1/2 hour if not plugged in. Better keep it plugged in, and its about useless for walking around the town. The battery lasts long enough to get you lost, and then it shuts down.
User Interface: Aweful. Compared to the most basic smartphone, this "APP" is very limited and confusing.
"Recalculating" does not inform you missed a turn. It just calculates a new route without tellling you. If you miss the turn, you dont know it. It will reroute you 50 miles out … of your way. No Joke.
Map Updates - 1: I got the lifeime update. What they dont tell you is that often, the new maps do not fit on your "older" device. So, you can load the East, or the West, or the border states....but the same old US & Canda maps you have right now....probably will not fit into the existing memory another 2 years. Why they cant format the maps to fit onto the device memory is beyond me.
Map Updates - 2: Garmin is so afraid that someone might get a free update, that they make the update process slow and very difficult. You must install add-ons and Express Apps. It takes 6-8 hours to upload the Eastern map. Why ? Just a stupid marketing strategy. Include the cost of free updated into the unit, and make it easy to update.
I am SOOO dissapointed with this unit and the Garmin business model.
The best thing this company could do is outsource the software development to Android or Apple. All my complains (except battery life) are due to substandard programing and firmware development.
