  • Summary: Don't waste your money buying this. I used it a couple of times and then the earth pin snapped off and it was useless.

Beware cheap

Martin Griffin, Amazon
13 May 2013
  • Summary: on first time of using this product it (having eventually charged up my garmin nuvi sat nav), on removing it from the wall socket the plug section broke apart and could have been dangerous if not switched off first. The cable (1m long) seems OK but plug is cheap & useless - dont buy it.

Garmin nuvi 310 Sat Nav Review

Kev Lunn, Unbeatable
12 March 2011
  • Excerpt: I bought a Garmin Nuvi 310 after reading a glowing report in Which? magazine. The unit is neat and stylish - and amall-enough to carry around in a pocket to avoid leaving it in the car. The power lead plugs into the screen mount, rather than the unit itself - which makes mounting and demounting the unit very easy. Directions are clear and accurate - although there is one major problem with this unit (and all other Nuvi products).
  • Pros: Directions are clear and accurate. Blue-tooth link for mobile phone use very useful.
  • Cons: Final turn command given far too early. No on-screen indication of direction of next turn.

Felt let down

dorothy, Amazon
4 September 2010
  • Summary: We bought this item to help us find our way around London, only to find it could not find a signal, after trying for some time we gave up and used a map and our own noses to get around. We tried it when we got home to get to our local shops, it did take us there but took the route a car would take.In the end we gave it to our grandson for his car.

Pgoulthorp "recon 2", Amazon
12 February 2009
  • Summary: Had the 310 for just over 12 months now and it worked like a dream. However the bluetooth refuses to enable and I have to turn the units power off to reset the unit. Have tried the usual paths ie forums etc to correct this problem.Garmin sent me a attachment which said would solve the problem, but this failed to work.Have contacted Garmin again but they do not know what is wrong with the unit and said they will repair it but I will have to pay!!

Had two of these - both failed within an hour!

Mr. Lance P. Jacob "lancej", Amazon
1 November 2007
  • Summary: I bought this unit from another retailer and used it for 40 minutes on the battery before it shut itself down without warning. Even when connected to the power supply it would not switch back on. I returned this to the retailer and received an identical replacement. I set this this unit to take me to the same place (a 250 mile trip) and it shut itself down again at exactly the same spot - the Dartford Tunnel!

Garmin Nuvi 310

A. E. Davies "AED1981", Amazon
7 October 2007
  • Summary: Having been a happy Tom Tom user for a number of years, I bought the Nuvi 310 as a new replacement device when the Tom Tom broke. I'm now wishing I hadn't! The Nuvi 310 is totally unreliable in my opinion. The accuracy of it's mapping/directions in South Wales for example is woefull, there is only a 50:50 chance of it getting you to your destination at all!

Totally Useless Navigation

Shaggy, Amazon
6 August 2007
  • Summary: Received this as a present recently and tested it round local routes I know, up to 50 miles. The unit is nice to use, but has one major flaw. It's primarily a Satnav unit and the one thing it CANNOT do is route find. I have one sample route which I kept to send to their tech support. The route it chooses on ALL setting takes an unclassified road with a maximum speed of 15 mph. This route is also 1.6 miles longer than the correct route.

Limited avoidance options and screwy routing

Simon Porter, Amazon
18 June 2007
  • Summary: I just purchased this as a present for a friend of mine and I have to say its been a big disappointment. I had a chance to see it get tested out during a holiday in Worcestershire The first major flaw is that there is no sensible way of avoiding motorways. It does have the option of avoiding 'highways' but this then excludes all A roads as well as motorways. The other problem we experienced was that this unit just loves the back roads.
