Summary: What a fantastic piece of kit, it might have been launch back in 2006 but still feel very modern and up to date. It is a very easy unit to use with a host of features like SD card reader, blue tooth, MP3 player, and books. The battery last a very long time and the screen is very easy to read even in bright sunshine. The voice feature is excellent like when you are approaching a roundabout it says a roundabout in clear English.
Summary: Bad stuff: it takes too long to start up and can get a bit confused in complex street junctions - but i''ve checked with people who have other sat-navs and it seems they're all the same. Good stuff: clear display, you can mute the nagging voices, and it's pretty reliable.
Summary: on first time of using this product it (having eventually charged up my garmin nuvi sat nav), on removing it from the wall socket the plug section broke apart and could have been dangerous if not switched off first. The cable (1m long) seems OK but plug is cheap & useless - dont buy it.
Excerpt: I bought a Garmin Nuvi 310 after reading a glowing report in Which? magazine. The unit is neat and stylish - and amall-enough to carry around in a pocket to avoid leaving it in the car. The power lead plugs into the screen mount, rather than the unit itself - which makes mounting and demounting the unit very easy. Directions are clear and accurate - although there is one major problem with this unit (and all other Nuvi products).
Pros: Directions are clear and accurate. Blue-tooth link for mobile phone use very useful.
Cons: Final turn command given far too early. No on-screen indication of direction of next turn.
Summary: We bought this item to help us find our way around London, only to find it could not find a signal, after trying for some time we gave up and used a map and our own noses to get around. We tried it when we got home to get to our local shops, it did take us there but took the route a car would take.In the end we gave it to our grandson for his car.
Summary: Having read Amazon reviews before I purchased the Garmin 310 I thought it was going to be a good investment. How disappointed I am with the Garmin. It picks up satellite signals very slowly and sometimes 5 miles into my journey it receives satellite signals. It's bad at recalculating routes and has taken me the longest journeys even with ones I was familiar with. So, for a first sat nav it was a bad investment.
Summary: Had the 310 for just over 12 months now and it worked like a dream. However the bluetooth refuses to enable and I have to turn the units power off to reset the unit. Have tried the usual paths ie forums etc to correct this problem.Garmin sent me a attachment which said would solve the problem, but this failed to work.Have contacted Garmin again but they do not know what is wrong with the unit and said they will repair it but I will have to pay!!
