No Congestion charge avoidance!

Amazon Customer "Baz", Amazon
24 July 2008
  • Summary: Hi, Not a bad little device my only gripes are it can take a long time to find the satelites when you first turn it on, I live in central London fyi. Also there is no facility to avoid the London CC nor according to Garmin support any plans to add such functionality. Finally the cost to update the maps is chunky you are pretty much better off buying a new system!! Overall does pretty much what is says on the tin but if I had it over I wish I'd gone for the TomTom!

Good Sat Nav, naughty company to sell goods with known fault!

fayp, Dooyoo

  • Excerpt: I’ve been borrowing my friends Tom Tom recently for long trips and found it so good that I decided to purchase my own Sat Nav. Garmin Nuvi 300

Mr. R. Mcelroy, Amazon
14 January 2007
  • Summary: To be perfectly honest, I had a tom tom working on my cell phone before buying this dedicated unit. The tom tom on the phone was not reliable, however, I believe the hard-wired dedicated units are. This unit works OK but the software is not upto much compared with the Tom Tom. On the TT software, you can practically drive the car blind from the positioning.

Some very strange routes

MEH "MEH", Amazon
30 December 2006
  • Summary: Well, yes it is really easy to use but.... It has chosen a couple of really strange and inappropriate routes for me, both little more than cart tracks, though I have it set for fastest route. On one occasion the cart track was 9 miles of precariously narrow unclassified road with ditches either side and, call me 'cautious', but I couldn't do over 10mph on it so I reckon it added a good 30 minutes to the journey over what it would have been on the very slightly less...

Small, beautifully formed but flawed.

Mr. C. Phillipson, Amazon
1 October 2006
  • Summary: Very handy size, easy to fit to any vehicle and very good on the move with clear instructions and automatic zooming in on approach to junctions etc. However, the "predictive" nature of the text input prevents any meaningful post-code input. The rather expensive street level map (on SD) of France was very accurate and invaluable on our recent holiday.
