Garmin Nuvi 300

Rhonlynn, REVIEW STREAM
31 October 2008
  • Excerpt: Garmin is a company located on 151st street, in Olathe Kansas. It stands as a shrine, overlooking a small shopping area, housing a Price Chopper and Knit-Wit Yarn Shop, among other stores. In Kansas City we are proud of Garmin . My Garmin Nuvi 300 was purchased just before my dad became gravely ill. He lived at the Lake of the Ozarks, near Osage Beach, Missouri. It was purchased at one of 2 Wal-Marts.

  • Excerpt: I am not exactly a fan of Sat Navs. I am my father's daughter and he firmly believes in 'following his nose' or if the worst comes to the worse, look at a map! I am the same! I had just about got my head round online route planners and then my husband declared he wanted to get a sat nav. He had just got a new job and it involved quite a bit of travelling so he wanted a sat nav for a bit of extra security when trying to find his destination!

  • Excerpt: "...much research I bought a Garmin Nuvi 300T from Amazon 5 weeks ago, at £169.99. I went for this one as I wanted the free traffic warning system, which is sent via a silent FM channel. So you can see delays and ask the Sat Nav to divert you. It arrived in a neat box, along with a carrying case, USB cable, windscreen holder and car charger, as well as a quick start guide, the detailed guide being stored on the unit itself. There is virtually no ...
  • Pros: Great little Sat Nav unit, clear and fast
  • Cons: Traffic unit doesn't work, software updater doesn't work, hard to get out of windscreen mount !

  • Excerpt: I’ve been borrowing my friends Tom Tom recently for long trips and found it so good that I decided to purchase my own Sat Nav. I began doing much online research to see which would be the best unit for me. I found systems ranging from £89 up to £499 and beyond, so tried to decide which features I wanted. I don’t tend to speed (Much!

  • Excerpt: "I bought this as a last minute item for £149 on my way to see relatives. The traffic and weather were both horrendous and I couldn't imagine trying to follow my routeplanner printout!! I got it out the box, plugged it in, attached it to the bracket and away I went. The display was easy to read, the voice was clear and 90 minutes later I arrived. I think what sold it to me was the fact that once charged you could use it for up to 8 hours ...
  • Pros: Easy to use, clear and accurate

Garmin Nuvi 300 - consider a TomTom first

Mainflava, Ciao
22 September 2007
  • Excerpt: "Purchasing the Garmin Nuvi..... I bought this unit for my girlfriend as a present sometime back in the hope that it would help her find the exit out of that proverbial paper bag. At the time of purchase, I had narrowed my choice down to two satellite navigation systems that both fell well within my price range; the Tomtom One and the Garmin Nuvi 300, both of which contained GB maps only. Based on my previous experience in using handheld GPS units ...
  • Pros: Sleak, compact  and aesthetically pleasing
  • Cons: Innacurate on some roads, commands sometimes confusing
