Summary: Bought this for my daughter but thought I had better try it first. It consistantly tried to send me the wrong way on all of the different routes I tried. Although it recognised my home postcode it had no idea how to get there! I took it back after 2 days. Halfords were very helpful and gave me my money back and I ordered a tomtom from them instead which works perfectly.
Summary: I purchased the nuvi 30lm and found significant software changes from the nuvi 40: 1: Does not give street names for turn by turn directions. It simply say turn right 100 yards, then turn right. This is really confusing on the freeway when there are freeways intersecting. 2. It does not say recalculating when you get off course which I found confusing. It will simply give new directions.
should have been shipped with operating instructions.

Summary: i never used it becuse it was shipped without any operating instructions and the screen broke while i was trying to navigate it with a pen.the next gps willbe bought locally from a store and not online.
Summary: Gave a Nuvi 30 to family member for Christmas and they gave it back to after months of trying to figure out how to make it work. After spending 30 minutes on phone with Garmin they tell me the vendor sent out units that had not maps loaded on them and would need to return it to vendor or buy maps for $59.
Summary: This Garmin came without any maps loaded and no computer connection. It was useless. Once we purchased the computer connection it would not allow any updates. Contacted Garmin and they claimed that it was up to the retailer to load the maps and all they were able to do was sell a $65 CD to load the maps. Positive Note: Amazon was very responsive and refunded the return even though 30 days had passed. Step away from this purchase.
Summary: I am very upset with AMAZON to allow this product on their site. I bought this with the trust that AMAZON would back me up. This item came with NO MAPS and no ability to get them. I spent $70.00 as a gift for someone and when they went to use it, the maps were not available and Amazon said the return window had expired.
Summary: this product has no maps on it out of the box. I am still working on getting Garmin on the phone to explain what is going on. there is a chance we will have to pay an extra 70$ for maps which makes this a very expensive GPS for the Features it has. Edit: OK I found this post on the Garmin Web site so if you have the same problem with your unit hopefully you can fix it. I haven't tried yet but I hope it works. [...
Summary: My previous GPS was also a Garmin. That one was okay, except for occasionally telling me to turn down roads that don't really exist. This model is not great. It'll usually get you form point A to point B, but sometimes it's about 500 feet off. It doesn't know when to recalculate. The detour feature is significantly worse than my previous model. Locating a satellite is still slow. It doesn't warn you if it has decided to recalculate.
Summary: I purchased this GPS for a 2012 Christmas gift. It had reasonably good reviews and friends recommended this as one of 2 brands to go with. The recipient had all the problems that are showing up in the post-holiday reviews. NO MAPS....No USB to update maps...Doesn't want to update when go online. Instructions terrible and help suggestions contradictory. I finally gave up and it is in return mail as I write this. I trust I will get a refund. They HAVE my address.
