Summary: I purchased this because of the features, I love all the things it can do. Now for the bad, can't hear it at highway speeds, display could be a little larger, takes forever to acquire satellites sometimes. I wish Garmin would come out with a new improved version then I would buy another one.
Summary: I bought this unit when Amazon had it on special last year. This unit was to be a backup to my Garmin 1490t. I also wanted to geotag a few photos to send back home while on our Florida vacation. It does everything I expected. When the unit is removed from the cradle, it marks the last position. Just put the unit in your pocket then select GO TO LAST POSTITION in favorites to locate the car when the races are over.
Summary: Only problem is that it does not say the street names. Tthe unit will say "turn right" and not turn right on Industrial Drive". Another thing is that this unit does not give traffic updates. It is very basic. Other than that, the screen is easy to see and the GPS voice is clear.
Pros: Good on the road, sat-compass-nav at sea back-up; and in port to access email, web and weather over wifi. Saves buying cell phone data access and compliments a cell nicely. Good battery life. Compact size mounts more conveniently on windows.
Cons: Not weather proof (pack in plastic bag). Keep a retracted ball point pen handy to navigate email, web sights. Do not expect more complex routines like Flash Player so some email attachments and weather anomations are restricted from use.
Summary: The Garmin nuvi 295W Automotive GPS Receiver is a good GPS at a good price ($98.00 including shipping) and has a lot of good gps features. I have used it several times and it is a good gps, being fair no gps is perfect and they all make mistakes. However the volume is insufficient to hear over road noise and that is the reason i bought this model so i could hear the instructions when traffic was heavy and i did not want to look at screen.
Summary: Nice slimline GPS unit. I like everything about it. The audio could stand to be a little louder but everything else seems to work fine. Definitely a step up from my 200 unit. Dropped in my sim card with music on it and it's ready to go.
Summary: This little GPS is extremely versatile. Besides the normal GPS navigation functions you would expect, it also has a camera and mp3 player, and wi-fi, each of which can be used as navagation aids. With the camera, you can take a picture of a place of interest that you may come across in your travels and tag it with its gps coordinates. If you want to visit that site again in the future, just look it up in your gallery, click on it, and go.
Summary: I bought this for my motorcycle--I can't see spending 800 plus on a motorcycle gps, and this gps, along with the motorcycle/bicycle kit works great! (If you want to hear the directions/music, you will need the headphone jack adapter, though. And to hook it up to your bike, you need the adapter for that, too...easy Amazon purchases, both.) First, I tried it out side-by-side with my Tom Tom that I've been using for some time.
Summary: I've never had a GPS unit before, so I'm not an expert. I can't compare the features of this nuvi to other nuvi's or other brands. I read many mixed reviews about the 295W nuvi. I read that the web browser is awful and the wi-fi is spotty. I read that the navigation is just okay and that features were missing. I read lots of luke warm and semi negative reviews.
