Summary: I bought this one brand new from Amazon about a year ago. Last week, I could not turn on the unit any more. I am contacting Garmin tech support to see if it is still under warranty. I expected it should last a few years, but it didn't.
Summary: I really liked the concept of a portable. In reality it's not too good and I rely on my old Magellan more. It seems to reset itself often, usually at a critical direction times, has trouble in locating satellites and gives turn directions late.
You can't power thins device off- keeps discharging battery.

Summary: First I thought this would be a great combination GPS receiver and MP3 player. Granted it does both, and has a nice user interface (similar to a smart phone). The problem? It just won't hold a charge, even when powered off. If you keep is plugged into your car's switched power outlet, I suppose that's okay. But don't leave it in sight or someone will break your window just to steal this marginally useful device.
Summary: The compact smallersize was what originally attracted me to this model. But functionality did not live up to Garmin standards ( explains why it was discontinued) It takes a long time to load up and find location. Much longer than other garmins( even older ones) that I have owned. The battery life is short probably due to the on/off button not really shutting the unit off, but just going into a sleep mode of sorts. And don't get me started on the "Wifi" feature..
Summary: Purchased this gps when it was offerred as a Gold Box special for $62. The screen freezes often and unit will not turn off to reset. Have to remove the battery to reboot. A real pain. The touch screen is way too responsive; goes all over the place. IMO Garmin tried to pack too many options into this gps. The entire unit is mediocre at best. We don't use it at all.
Summary: Very disappointed with the Garmin nuvi 295W GPS. I had this unit for only 2 months and used it 4 times. 1) It takes forever to charge the battery. 2) Battery charge is short. 3) WI-FI is not the fastest. 4) Software issue when USB cable is attached, kept blinking on and off. 5) Trouble on 3rd time used, would not turn on or charge the battery through PC or charger. Finally pulled the battery out, then PC recognized the unit to charge.
Summary: This GPS has some good functionality and design but it doesnt work well as a GPS. You can see the other functions in other reviews but the main function of guiding you to a destination falls short. It works well when functioning properly but when it isnt, its terrible. Here's an example, I was trying to go from midtown manhattan to Fort lee, NJ and the GPS was telling me to get to a well lit road when I was in Times Square!!!
