Pros: This is my third Garmin GPS unit. I like the bigger screen and the speed is acceptable. It links up to the web update service quite easily.
Cons: After one year the ETA (Estimated Arrival Time) feature plus the Lifetime Traffic Update stopped dead while on the road in Tennessee. I want the basic required ETA display/info back on my machine at the very least. If it takes another software then I urge Garmin to get it solved fast. Until then I am going to be a very unhappy Garmin customer.
Summary: I purchased the garmin 2797 lmt as a substitute to the high priced nav package by honda. With the flex rubber mount and hood This unit is BETTER than a mfg in-dash unit. For CRV's this fits infront of the radio dash screen. A better position allows less time for your eyes off the road.It couldn't be any more convenient. Ever drive in LA? Charging the unit invehicle is a must as the pc downloads takes 50 min ( no pc charging via USB ) .
Summary: The jury is still out on this unit. While it has some of the features I liked from my old unit, like Voice Command, and some new features that I enjoy, such as Bluetooth connectivity with my phone, it's not as intuitive to use, and functions (such as "where Am I?") aren't easy to find, or where you'd expect them. Worse, while Voice Command is great, it's not fully functional, and there are many, many functions that simply cannot be accessed using Voice Command.
Summary: I have not used it a lot yet, but I have no complaints. I think it has great features and I found a Name Brand case for it that is perfect for 12.99 at WALMART. I love the big screen, at age 70 and wearing glasses, it is a real help. A glance instead of a stare is all that is needed to check my route. The voice recognition is excellent also. The mount works well on the windshield, up in the left top corner, does not block my view at all.
Summary: I am not a techie and anything more complicated than a light bulb is a challenge but this GPS is so intuitive it ranks up there with the light. My first Garman was lost and I purchased another just like the first. Then I found my first one and now have two but not complaining. I have travelled all over the U.S. and this thing has never let me down, including the traffic jam avoidance function.
Summary: We just got back from our first trip using the Garmin and it was great! Especially helpful in heavy traffic when needing to know which lane to be in for exiting. Not being familiar with the area we were in, this helped so much. Mrs. Garmin is my new best friend! Also finding lots of options to personalize it, like avoiding certain roads or u-turns, etc. Very easy to operate, and this coming from a couple of very technically challenged adults.
Summary: I received my GPS and immediately took it on a trip to the Atlanta, GA area. It performed awesome! I am so glad that I bought it.....it will make my traveling experiences much less stressful. I was able to navigate through urban and sub-urban areas with ease when I was over there. And if you miss a turn, it re-routes you very quickly and gets you to your destination very easily!
