Summary: I have owned both Garmin and TomTom over the last 15 years. I drive 30 thousand miles per year and the big screen, menu choices and multiple screen information options is excellent. Best of the bunch!
Many great features from earlier models deleted or not included.

Summary: Ok, the big screen is nice when navigating, but Garmin learned early on that customers wanted to use the device for other things as well. Thus the Nuvi line came to include a jpeg viewer which I learned to love. When on vacation, we would slip in the micro sd card and enjoy a slide show of our pics before we got home. This would especially be nice on the new larger screen. In fact, that was one of the primary reasons we upgraded.
Summary: I got this GPS primarily for the routing feature. Have been putting in 20-30 stops and it does a good job of organizing them so I can make calls more effectively, minimizing my use of time. Sometimes you do a little back tracking, appears it likes to route based on the side of the road you may be turning to. This does have a large screen so doesn't work well for me on the dash. Makes it easier to see multiple streets a some intersections.
Summary: I returned a Good Sam/Rand McNally RV GPS and bought this one to use while traveling in my RV. This unit does not list all of the campgrounds but it does what Rand McNally couldn't seem to do - it got me there! On the same route the Rand McNally lost it's mind (told me to make a u-turn for 16 miles until I entered the south park entrance and then locked up completely once I entered the park) the Garmin took less than 1/4 mile to reroute me to the south entrance.
Summary: When I pulled this device out of the box I was amazed at how LARGE the screen was! This device may be too large for some people's preferences, but I like it. This device has a nifty app called Trip Planner, which allows you to build a trip (or a specific route) based on a series of points of Interests or waypoints. You string them all together and that route can be saved. I frequently drive from southeastern Virginia to Pennsylvania, but like to avoid Washington DC.
Summary: This device is very intuitive. It tells me when I am entering a school zone, it alerts me to upcoming intersections, it tracks my actual speed according to 7 satellites, always shows the accurate time of day.
Summary: This GPS is outstanding. It shows the road your traveling on as well as the road up ahead. I'm a sheriff deputy and always needing to know where I'm at. A great GPS for law enforcement as if you're in a vehicle pursuit, you always know the direction of travel, what road you're on and what's up ahead. This screen is huge. If you're in a Tahoe, you're going to be pleased. If you're in a Crown Vic or Charger, you're (probable) going to find this is too big.
Summary: This GPS is huge. No problems seeing or hearing it. Garmin is the only GPS I will buy. I have 4 of them. One for me and one for each kid. I don't know how I found my way without one years ago. I don't get lost so I save on gas.
