"This is a nice device as long as the maps are current."

Pros: The unit is great in cities that don't change street patterns often. Street addresses are accurate and so are map displays. I have used this unit in the USA, Spain, Poland and Czech Republic with great success. Volume adjustments could be easier though.
Cons: In countries with rapidly expanding freeways and building of autobahns, updated maps are required. The unit does not sometimes know whether the road shown on the map is paved, dirt or just a farm road. As far as it is concerned a road is a road is a road
Summary: Having already owned a TOMTOM from the states I was looking for something to get me by around Europe without having to fork out a lot. Got a good deal on Ebay on this unit and it is working out just fine. Dont expect any bells and whistles with this like bluetooth or voice control or turn by turn with street names to name a few. The display on my TOMTOM has a lot more than going than the Garmin eg. current speed/speed limit, current time while in navigation etc.
Summary: PRO: - lowest price modle with NA and EU maps - compact size - easy to set up/use - good signal receiption CON: - standard USB cable will turn it in "PC mode", have to use the trick by log in "test mode" to enable it to work with standard USB cable - can only navigate/calculate from where you are - costly to get updated map - good receiption but a little slow to start up
Summary: I bought this product mainly because I was going on a trip to Italy and this model had US and European maps unlike most other products on the market in the US. The product worked well enough all over Italy, with some exceptions, stemming mainly from the fact that this is an older model. Also, this was a refurbished model (hence the low price of around $110), but this didn't cause any problems. The problems I had were: 1) The maps are somewhat outdated.
Summary: Bought the Nuvi 270 new for $130 because I wanted the Europe maps for my next overseas trip. Won't be going overseas until next year but I made a road trip to Canada and for the most part, it worked well. I tried to find a few small local restaurants that showed on the GPS but it led me to residential complexes. Wish I got text-to-speech because I have to read the street names of the upcoming turns and take my eyes off the road. But a solid navigator.
Summary: Comments about Garmin nuvi 270 Automobile Navigator: We bought this for use in the U.K. where we will be living for the next three years. From our initial use we are very happy with the units performance. While it does not contain all the "whistles and bells" of the more expensive units, it's capabilities are more than adequate for the casual user. Great user interface and fast satellite acquisition.
Pros: Acquires Satellites Quickly, Compact, Easy Menus, Easy To Read, Easy To Set Up, Large Screen, Reliable Performance, Simple Controls
Summary: I bought this unit for a 2 week vacation in Holland, Germany and Italy. I also own a Nuvi 260 in the US, which only has U.S. & Canada maps and love everything about it (i.e. EXCELLENT). Here's the comparison of 270 with Nuvi 260: PROS: * European maps pre-loaded: more than 20 countries in Western and Eastern Europe * Safety camera and speed limit alert (not found in Nuvi 260) * Lots of Points of Interests * Compact - same 3.5" screen size as Nuvi 260 fits in pocket for...
Summary: Great GPS when traveling in Europe which was the reason I got it. I purchased the item in the US to make sure that it works since it has both maps the USA and Europe. I had no problems even using it in Berlin a complicated city to find interested places.
Summary: This is a great navigator! Works great in city areas, can set multiple destinations within one trip, I have yet to have a problem. The one thing I can’t figure out is downloading different voices for the navigator. The standard women’s voice is no problem, but I wanted some funny unique ones from the website. There is none. That is a small non-problem, though. I love the product, and would highly suggest it!
