"This is a nice device as long as the maps are current."

Pros: The unit is great in cities that don't change street patterns often. Street addresses are accurate and so are map displays. I have used this unit in the USA, Spain, Poland and Czech Republic with great success. Volume adjustments could be easier though.
Cons: In countries with rapidly expanding freeways and building of autobahns, updated maps are required. The unit does not sometimes know whether the road shown on the map is paved, dirt or just a farm road. As far as it is concerned a road is a road is a road
Summary: We really do like this item but sometimes it is not as accurate as we would like it to be. We have gotten lost sometimes. Maybe there is another model that is more accurate. When we know the area and where to go we know that it is taking us a different route. It is a good purchase for the money though.
Summary: Having already owned a TOMTOM from the states I was looking for something to get me by around Europe without having to fork out a lot. Got a good deal on Ebay on this unit and it is working out just fine. Dont expect any bells and whistles with this like bluetooth or voice control or turn by turn with street names to name a few. The display on my TOMTOM has a lot more than going than the Garmin eg. current speed/speed limit, current time while in navigation etc.
Summary: I took this unit to Europe last summer and we drove about 2000 kilometers within Greece with only a hitch or two. I was not sure if a short cut was really a short cut. i.e., where it told me to turn off the main road was dirt and gravel and looked like no exit. I continued straight where the unit said to turn and it rapidly found its bearings once again without any estimated loss of time.
Summary: Bought this item because I was going to England for several months. This GPS comes with maps of Europe already pre-loaded. This was a huge bonus. It worked great while in England. While in London, I used the pedestrian mode quite a bit. It even told me where all the traffic cameras were in England. This was a great product at a great price!
Summary: Bought just before travelling to Europe, about 6 months ago. GREAT entry level GPS. Had Europe maps on it (bought separately; Europe map can cost over $100). Worked well in Europe. With the purchase, you get one free upgrade; we choose the US Map upgrade. Smaller screen doesn't really pose much of a problem. Street names are not called out; just directions; but given the price; this is a very good alternative. I recommend this unit.
Summary: The systems worked well in Europe and USA, although it did get us lost a couple of times on back roads in the UK. Be sure to carry a map, as travelling to some of the smaller villages in the UK produced confusing or incorrect directions. Although, with a little map reading and alternate route selection (following sign posts) you can easily get to your intended destination.
Summary: My first GPS, but I like that it is portable. It does seem to take a while to 'warm up' when I first turn it on...takes a few minutes to establish location and maps. Only thing I can think of that just mildly bothers me is that the key board is in alphabetical order and alphanumeric. I've looked for a change in settings, but was unsuccessful. Seems to have good battery life. I got it for a steal on amazon when it went on super sale..
