Summary: I have owned several GPS now, and this one is by far the worst. To be clear, it performs all of the required functions. It provides a route to the destination, turn by turn directions, etc. The problem with this specific model is that the routing methods are garbage. You have four options. Shortest distance, shortest time, least fuel, off road. These options will ALL take you through winding city streets when there is a freeway half a mile away.
Summary: This product worked great... for only 3 months. Afterward, it started having issues with locating satellites and finding directions. It would sometimes take 10-15 minutes to find directions, making this GPS useless. Now, the screen freezes right after I turn it on, and it won't allow me to press anything on the touchscreen or enter directions. I took great care of this GPS and kept it in my house whenever I wasn't using it.
Summary: I have had 2 TomToms, and I switched to Garmin because I wanted a better bluetooth functionality (TomTom's wasn't great). I don't know if I got used to TomTom giving directions and am completely unable to follow Garmin directions, but I have yet to have a successful trip with this device. I am on the road for my job, visiting 2-3 homes per day, 10-15 homes per week, so I got to test it a lot. Here are my complaints about the maps: 1) In NJ, we have "jughandles". Every.
Summary: Utter piece of of junk and the most expensive piece of junk I have bought.
Pros: This is great when it is working which is rarely.
Cons: The unit would lock up periodically, then shut down without any way to turn it on again. There is only one button on the top to press and nothing else. If this does not work you are out of luck. It is impossible to remove and recharge battery any other way that through USB cord.
Summary: This was the first GPS I had ever purchased. After a decent amount of research on brands/models, I decided to pick up this unit. Bad move. Everything worked fine for the first few weeks, however, the FM transmitter / power cable stopped working. Not only did the traffic updates cease to show up on my unit, but the cable wouldn't even charge my unit.
Summary: This thing was defective from day one. Didn't save settings properly and reboots constantly. Useless support had me update firmware but that did not resolve the issue. Now it's going to Raytech for repair. I fully expect it to come back scratched and still broken, so I'm going to go buy a Tom-Tom.
Summary: I purchased a Garmin GPS a few years ago and it was very satisfactory. After a year or so, the battery crashed but no problem....it worked off the cigarette lighter in the truck. In 2009, I decided to upgrade my maps and purchased Map Update 2009. The update worked very well in the U.S. BUT it has distorted all roads so it looks like I'm driving off the road, and not on it. Christmas 2009, I received a Garmin Nuvi from my wife. It has been a huge disappointment !!
