Summary: This unit does not display all of the streets. I have passed streets that I know have been there for many years and they don't show up. The car display takes a long time to turn corners and take exits and tells you it's recalculating even when you go the way it tells you to go. VERY Confusing!
Summary: My wifes old 265t got stolen in our driveway, (talk about feeling violated) and the old one worked so good I figured I'd just get the same one. As the one we were replacing had it's share of scratches and normal wear and tear I figured a refurb was good enough, so I ordered it. I was shocked for two reasons when I got it; 1. I got it the day after I ordered it. Beach audio is an awesome company.
Summary: Nice compact GPS. This is my second Garmin. Their products are first class. I cannot say as much for their customer service. When it comes time to do a map update, just go buy a newer GPS and save the grief and money.
Summary: Bought this on deal on Thanksgiving to try out traffic features. Very simple to use, very quick to start and respond. Drove from LA to Vegas and at one point after going below 40 for 10-15 min the GPS suddenly said 'severe traffic ahead rerouting' and it took us via streets and frontage roads to get ahead of traffic as much as possible.
Summary: I'm partial to Garmin's because that's all I've ever had. To be honest, I'm not sure if they are better than TomTom's or anything else, but they have always worked for me. I have the 4.3" version of this currently and have had zero issues that weren't user errors in address, etc. I bought the 3.5" as a gift and had no issues with set-up. I would suggest to anybody buying a Garmin to take advantage of their free map update.
"Slow-to-refresh display; Garmin won't transfer maps"
28 November 2010
Pros: Cheap. Bluetooth OK but a pain to dig through menus if used with more than 1 phone, sometimes freezes.
Cons: Display refreshes are slow - chunky and late - you've passed a street before it caches up. Garmin's purchased map policies are TERRIBLE. GPSs get lost or stolen: Say you purchase Europe map. It's registered online. Can u transfer to new Garmin? NO!
