Summary: As with any GPS a map is not a bad idea to verify the route that is plotted on the GPS. On a recent trip, the GPS suggested I go 40 mile out of my way to reach my destination. On another route it suggested about 30 mile out of my way. In town it worked great. And going through Chicago it was very useful when suggesting which lane to be in. Also if you wanted to see the big picture it was either zoomed in too far or zoomed out to far.
Pros: Acquires Satellites Quickly, Compact, Easy Menus, Easy To Read, Large Screen
Summary: I like it but -- Although I am computer savvy I have had a hard time learning to use this. (I do not have a smart phone.) I wish there had been a Get Started Menu. I went to the Garmin site and it said there was no manual for this model. Called Garmin and the emailed me one right away. Very good customer service. However, how much would it cost to put a small manual in at the start?
Summary: If you are going to upgrade from a previous Garmin, be prpared to purchase all new mounts. I use this unit in my car, truck and bike. I had to buy all new mounts as the unit, while it looks the same size from the front, the back is different and does not allow for interchanging mounts with previous units.
Pros: Acquires Satellites Quickly, Easy To Read, Large Screen
Summary: Overall, the 2597 is a very capable GPS, and is miles ahead of my old Garmin 760 that this replaced. Maps load quickly, and the screen is far more sensitive to the touch than the older versions. Even the voice commands work relatively well, which seems to be a rarity with devices that implement voice recognition. However, the unit is definitely not perfect. Case in point: the implementation of Bluetooth is so bad it is basically unusable.
Summary: It works well.. I wish it had come with one of those pillow holders as it leaves a suction mark on the windshield, so potential thieves know you have one. Plus it's holder shape causes it to be hard to find a spot on the windshield where it doesn't block your view, yet is still easily visible to use.
Summary: Great product, it is a major improvement over their previous models within the past couple fo years. The screen is crips, detailed and tells you all the you need to know. I own three units for different cars.
Summary: I purchased a new GPS because my present one didn't include Canada. It covered New Brunswick Province well with concise directions and quickly adjusted when I intentionally went off route. I just wish it came with a instruction booklet. I don't like the trial and error method of finding out how it works.
