Not worth it

Mr. f., Newegg
  • Summary: I am not sure what Garmin is doing but the software is a joke.
  • Pros: Clear screen. Nice options. Actually lots of great options. Customer support was trying to be helpful
  • Cons: Consistent failure to find the shortest route no matter what the settings were. Failed to find basis addresses that my old Garmin knew of. Shortest distance setting are worthless. Fastest time settings are a joke. Not worth the $100 I spent on it. 30 percent of the speed limits North of Boston were wrong.

Garmin Nuvi 2597

David R., Newegg
16 October 2014
  • Pros: Zero, None. Refuse to accept used item.
  • Cons: 8 Days shipping time. Shipper lives within my area. I could've picked this up in less than one hour. Bogus boxing. Came in a bubblerap bag and no Styrofoam to keep unit from being bounced around. refurbished unit, refuses to acquire satellite. I have been a Newegg customer for many years. Have built three complete computers with this company's hardware. Never have I ever received anything used or inoperative till now. This product will definitely be heading back. Don'...

lifetime maps - whose lifetime

IvorRoute, Halfords
7 October 2014
  • Excerpt: I bought a Garmin a couple of years ago but when I tried to update with the latest 'lifetime' maps I found it wasn't compatible with my Windows 7 PC. I dug out an XP PC (no longer supported) and the Garmin software then declared the maps too big and I needed a 4-8Mb SD card. I tried several cards from 4-32Mb and every time it said not enough space although each of the cards had been formatted. Garmin haven't replied to my mail.

  • Summary: being refurbished I assumed since it had presumably been returned once, it would be fixed and made available for resale. Apparently not, so I returned it and ordered a new one from Amazon. I was very disappointed. As for the unit itself, I am sure the new one will work as well as all of the reviews claim.

  • Summary: The refurbished Garmin was non-functional. The voice guidance worked, but the visual guidance did not--the picture remained frozen at the starting point. I returned the device, which had been ordered online. The return went smoothly and my credit card was credited. I then bought another Garmin model in the store.
