Summary: Having a Garmin can give you a false sense of security that now you have a friend that will get you anywhere you want to go. I did use it without a hitch for a few months but recently the directions have been completely off sending me and my husband around in circles.
Summary: This unit does not provide the best routes. I have followed some routes this unit has given me and after driving them and becoming familiar with the area have found shorter more direct routes. This has happened on several occasions. I have kept up with the map updates.
Summary: I'll reserve comment on the product until I can update the maps and actually use it, but don't see that happening anytime soon.
Pros: Looks like a nice unit. ADVERTISES great function for the price.
Cons: Unlisted system requirements demanding cable or highest spreed DSL in order to obtain map updates advertised with product. So if you live in a rental in which you can't install the wiring for one of those and are using a legacy wimax modem, you don't get everything you paid for.
Summary: The traffic receiver (GTM33) which came with this unit was defective and would not connect to the navigation unit. It seems that Garmin has poor quality control. Also, the unit would not power up couple of times, had to wait about half hour for the navigation to start up.
Summary: I bought a Garmin nuvi 855 about a year and a half ago when I moved to a new state. I bought Garmin because it was highly recommended by a friend and was a name I recognized. I have been disappointed by my Garmin since the first week I used it. It freezes about 3 out of every 5 times that I use it.
Summary: I really wanted this to work. We bought this Garmin because it was advertised as having "hands-free Bluetooth speakerphone" and lifetime map updates. We had a Garmin previously and knew we wanted a Garmin again.
Summary: The device itself is fine but the software is hell on wheels. Just trying to download and deal with it is a nightmare and their trip planner tool must have been invented by a sadist it is so complicated and counter-intuitive. Sadly there's not a lot of competition in this space so one must make do.
Summary: Very difficult to attach to the screen of the Sat Nav without getting dust particles caught in between and creating air bubbles. You really need to be in a totally dust free environment. Where does the average person find one ?
