  • Summary: Great shipping and service from Walmart. The refurbished unit was in new condition, however the unit was defective. The Bluetooth would not let you carry on a conversation as it would cut in and out, even with a strong signal. Also the color of the screen was very pale, even after trying different settings. I think it is a good value if it worked right. I did bring it back to Walmart, and received credit with no problem. RRM.

"GPS works well, but advanced features underwhelming."

  • Pros: -Really does a nice job of routing to destinations. -Provides access to POIs when not within reach of a cell tower, although sometimes not accurate.
  • Cons: -POIs not real-time as are those on cellphones. -Must update manually to make sure POIs are accurate and up-to-date. -Traffic info only available in major urban locations, not along interstate routes.

  • Summary: The traffic receiver (GTM33) which came with this unit was defective and would not connect to the navigation unit. It seems that Garmin has poor quality control. Also, the unit would not power up couple of times, had to wait about half hour for the navigation to start up. The navigation direction were mostly correct, but few times gave me incorrect Left and Right information.

  • Summary: I bought a Garmin nuvi 855 about a year and a half ago when I moved to a new state. I bought Garmin because it was highly recommended by a friend and was a name I recognized. I have been disappointed by my Garmin since the first week I used it. It freezes about 3 out of every 5 times that I use it. And I can't just turn it off and on again. I have to take out the battery and let it sit for a few seconds before it will unfreeze. It gets confused a lot.

  • Summary: I really wanted this to work. We bought this Garmin because it was advertised as having "hands-free Bluetooth speakerphone" and lifetime map updates. We had a Garmin previously and knew we wanted a Garmin again. This model 2595LMT was a really good GPS (5" screen easy to see, nice features) and I'm sure we would have loved to keep it - but the Bluetooth speakerphone was a JOKE. The caller's voice is so faint and nearly impossible to hear that it was ridiculous.

Discontinuation of my "Lifetime Updates

Alan R., Amazon
20 April 2014
  • Summary: Please be advised when considering this and maybe any other Garmin satnav that a placard on my computer Garmin Express update screen on my computer effectively tells me that unless I update my operating system from Windows XP then my Lifetime Updates will be discontinued. This clearly removes a factor that significantly influenced my decision to buy this product.

Bad power system

Al Dabog, FutureShop

  • Summary: I have this unit and I can say that the GPS functionality is really good. The really bad part and I think the weakest link is the power system. It uses the USB type of power plug which is not as rugged as the +/- plug normally used for power supplies. My unit won't charge unless I hold the USP jack at a certain angle. Due to this, I went back to using my old Garmin which has a more robust type of power charging.

CAUTION ABOUT 7.20 SOFTWARE UPDATE, DON'T DO IT

Tim C, Amazon
27 November 2012
  • Summary: ########PLEASE READ ON######### This is my second Garmin 2595LMT, the first went back after a few days with it being stuck in demo mode and problems with updating the software. The software version on the original one was 6.10. Amazon great about sending out a replacement as usual. However after having several TOMTOM's before and often having problems after updating the software, I decided to jump ship to GARMIN. I use a windows 7 PC and pretty much know what I am doing.

Love Hate

Meaningful Review, Amazon

  • Summary: Generally speaking as a sat nav this does the job. It is a nice screen and it easily gets a signal. The 3D road display with lane control is good. I like the way it shows you where petrol stations and Cafe's are. (My reference point here is an integrated low spec BMW 5series 2009 sat nav which does not do speed cameras or full post codes) Some of the local routes seem a bit hit and miss.
