Summary: Just kidding about the blender! First venture into a full feature GPS. Have been quite happy with other Garmin electronics (depth/fish finders; handheld GPS etc.) in the past plus -this was on sale when I ordered it. Drove behind it during known travels and also familiarized myself with it evenings in the old recliner while ported to the laptop. Very user/Rookie friendly interactive menus. Make sure you select the type of route you desire. Quickest or Scenic.
Summary: I've not used it a lot since purchase. I'm waiting for warmer weather for the family trips. I've been very pleased with the performance so far. My sister has one and on the way to a medical appointment in a new location, it worked perfectly. She thought she knew the way, but got lost and the Garmin put her back on track and got her to the appointment on time.
Summary: It is very slow it tells you when to turn after the street and loses signal all the time. We used it in Minneapolis ,Dallas and San Antonio wish I had not trown away the packaging or I would have returned it. My cheaper tom tom is much better.
Summary: I give a name to our GPS . The name Penny fit . I like the new Garmin our old one still works but got outdated after 8 yrs and lots of trips . The new one has got lots more things to use Pop ups for gas ,speed limit sighns etc. We like the ability to talk to it to give the place you want to go. Lots less time involved, then typing it in.
Summary: Three main issues, as others have reported. 1) Voice search does not function.. Accepts menu commands, then at the address entry it fails. Comically. More than one hundred attempts, tried to "train it", etc. Fail. 2) Basic address search? Enter number, address, name, then it searches in a 4 state area based on where you are. So I am looking for something in Southern Vermont, and it gives me a long list from NY, NH, MA and VT. No joke. Then one must scroll to find it.
Summary: I make deliveries all over Idaho, Oregon Wyoming, etc. I could never depend on my cell phone navigation because Could be in some remote locations. So far this garmin Has not let me down. I recommend this unit to everyone.
Summary: After owning another brand gps( magellan) I was sorely disappointed with the garmin...No alert at turns and voice controls did not work as the ads said... First voice sounded like she was underwater.Second voice sounded much better..Not worth the money..
Summary: This unit replaced a 10-year old GPS by TomTom. The TomTom still performed admirably but was using out-of-date maps and I was contemplating replacing it with my smartfone. I saw the sale on this Garmin and ordered one after reading its specs. Now that I have had it in my hands for a few weeks, I'm further amazed on what it does. I am not a tech freak and realize that it has more features than I use but for what I need, it is perfect.
Summary: First Garmin lasted at least 10 years decided to upgrade to larger 5" screen . Especially anxious to use the audio book feature on long trips. Haven't used the new Garmin at this point except to review each feature. At this point it appears to be easier to program and use. Still haven't used on long trip.
