Good GPS with Europe and US maps but with no maps free updates

Summary: I have used the Garmin 2577LT for sometime, it is a good GPS but lacks the free Map updates and the streets speed limits. The newer Garmin GPSs have the side streets speed limits posted in the GPS but for the Garmin 2577LT, the street speed limits are posted only for the main roads.
Excerpt: The Sat Nav itself is very good and friendly. I had difficulty downloading the required maps and software. The software which does this took a long time and never actually said that it had finished doing the job.
Excerpt: Purchased this due to an imminent trip to the States so can't yet comment on it's full performance. However there is a "simulated" option available so on the face of it every function seems to be operating.
Excerpt: Like the look of it nice and slim not bulky like the old sat navs Clear instructions. So far so good however the only niggle we've had was going to the Metro centre when it didn't tell us the correct lane to get in to Ikea but knowing the Metro centre that's not suprising.
Summary: Bought this to replace a NUVI 370 that still works great but the maps are outdated. It was cheaper to get this new model than get a full map update on the 370. It's better in all ways - better display, better maps, better attachment, and full time traffic.
Pros: Large screen. Great map displays, especially on complicated interstate interchanges. Nice Bluetooth connection to cell phone.
Summary: This was a Xmas gift for my wife. We just opened on Xmas day and used a few times until today. No issues so far. I connected to Garmin Express and downloaded the latest software and latest maps. The download and installation took almost 3 hours, but there was no issues during the process.
Pros: Voice command is a great feature and avoid you to deviate attention from the road. Fast reception and route calculation. Easy process to update map and software when connected to Garmin Express.
