Summary: after trying two different Tom-Tom GPS units, I bought the Garmin nuvi 255W 4.3-inch widescreen. I find it easy to use and very reliable. So far the map info is right on, the voice and widescreen are both very clear. Yes, I would recommend this to others.
Summary: Having previously used TomTom devices, I found the Gramin device to be quite basic in it's product offering. While the device performs its role and will get you from A to B, some features could be much better. Device was pretty confused on LA roads especially with multiple inter-change levels.
Summary: Purchased this Garmin unit after researching many different brands and models. Used it on one longish trip in the North East so far...500 miles each way over a combination of Interstate, rural highway, and dirt road. Route selection, prompts, and accuracy were all perfect.
Summary: I have only used this once. I plugged it in,it set up immediately and I could start using it. Tried several different directions. Went a different way and it adjusted to a new route very easily. The voice was very pleasant Much easier to use than an old Tom Tom that I had.
Summary: This is my second Garmin (the first got stolen), and I like almost everything about it, particularly the price. Definitely get the weighted stand. It's easier to mount and adjust, and it's easier to remove to hide.
Summary: So far we like this Garmin. All the attachments made this a good value. One warning, do not trust this thing completely. It tried to direct me down back roads instead of taking the main highway, which was a straight shot to where I was going. It would have taken longer had I followed its directions.
Summary: Use this on a trip to AZ, worked quite well. Display was large and easily viewed, directions were clear. Only feature not on the unit, or at least not found by me, road construction sites not found, or displayed. Overall, unit was a good buy.
