"Excellent GPS, but service sucks."

JimPerk363, CNET
6 November 2010
  • Pros: Had a couple of good years geocaching with it. Easy to read and listen too.
  • Cons: Unable to learn. Hates it when I drive 5 km through a field to Home Depot. Support sucks - a few elementary tries, then to service, flat rate (out of warranty) = $125.85 inc. GST & shipping.

"User Friendly User Interface but there is few draw back"

cneterer, CNET
25 August 2010
  • Pros: Good user interface design, easy to use. Clear voice instruction.
  • Cons: Bugs in software. Hung few times. After entering destination address and pressed GO, can't modify the address again, Must re-enter to whole address including province/state.

User Review

Walmart
20 July 2010
  • Summary: This is my second Garmin product and the display brightness is very poor to where I can hardly see it during daylight hours. The brightness is set to 100% but my first Garmin GPS was MUCH brighter so I'm assuming something is wrong and I'll try to exchange it when I return from vacation.

Garmin 255w Falling short.

anubisthanatos, Ebay
19 July 2010
  • Summary: I picked up this Garmin 255W as it has high ratings across the Web and is a recommended unit for the price. Now I know some units feature this and that and so forth, and that this unit is more of an entry level unit with missing bells and whistles. The sound is not 100% clear... Who cares. It doesnt have Blue tooth.. Meh.. You can't talk to it to enter routes... Pfftt.. using it as an electronic map is almost impossible.... Wait what..?

New or is it?

orchardside, Ebay
4 April 2010
  • Summary: I bought this GPS to replace the exact same model that was stolen from my car. It was described as brand new and looked pretty new out of the box but the unit itself was not in a plastic bag as my previous one was, leading me to question whether it had been used or was remanufactured. There's no way to know, it does work fine but a strange address in another state came up on it which also looks like it's been used.

Garmin Nuvi 255W - My Semi-Helpful Co-Pilot

mmcphee, epinions.com
18 March 2010
  • Summary: Despite the prevelance of navigation systems today, I'm not sold on their value. The 255W is a toy not really a tool.
  • Pros: A fun, little toy
  • Cons: No easy way to preview or customize routes

"GOOD GPS AVERAGE CUSTOMER SERVICE & GPS OPTIONS"

Arthur_Boy, CNET
12 March 2010
  • Pros: Fast Accurate Good route selection points of interests were updated, free map update within 60 days Customer service is good and helpful most of the time. Other goodies like calculator, picture viewer, unit convertor, trip calculator etc.
  • Cons: Poor Graphics, Does not seperatelly indicate which street you are traveling. Do not provide BEEP at the turn Customer phone service is slow like snail before you get to the agent. No Bluetooth connectivity through phone. Screen resolution is ok.
