Excerpt: I upgraded from an old Garmin Nuvi (about three years old), and I was really, really surprised to find that I wanted to go straight back to the old one. This new one has some really interesting features I loved - it has the speed limit signs, the awesome "mini exit map" that shows the exact exit to take, and a more updated-looking interface. All of the data was accurate.
Pros: Easy To Read, Large Screen
Cons: Acquires Satellites Slowly, Back Address Searching, Complicated Controls
Excerpt: I bought a new Garmin because my old one died ( I suspect because I did not buy map upgrades. I use it to plan my route home through freeway vs side road traffic each night. On the old Garmin there was an amber or red sign for heavy traffic . This does not occur on the latest version ( ie no traffic map option).
Pros: Acquires Satellites Quickly, Large Screen
Cons: Freeways Too Narrow, No Redamber Traffic, No Screen Lock, Traffic Colors Difficult
Excerpt: My work takes me thru six states, I am finding more and more missing streets unit unable to locate addresses. Not user friendly does not give mileage to destination only time. Would not recomend to some one who has to rely on accurate locations.
Pros: Clear display/Fast routing & rerouting. Very east to use untill you update maps.
Cons: After updating the device was useless. Gives error message "NO MAPPING DATA AVAILABLE". Returned to BB- Geeks said 4th 1 returned w/ same issue. Exchanged it w/ another same model & SAME problem as 1st after updating.
Summary: The voices I choose were "squelchy"; as if the speaker were speaking under-water... I also found that during local trips, the directions were incorrect. However, the delivery from Amazon, was great and the return of the defective device was also painless... thank you amazon!
Summary: I bought this GPS to replace my three years old TomTom GO 630. I decided to try out Garmin this time around, and after being a happy user of TomTom for more than seven years, because I heard a lot of good things about Garmin such as better up-to-date maps, and more a intuitive software. I must say that I am glad I kept my old TomTom just in case! I would be better off with my old GPS than the new Garmin.
