Not an Upgrade

Kayla, Staples
5 December 2013
  • Excerpt: I upgraded from an old Garmin Nuvi (about three years old), and I was really, really surprised to find that I wanted to go straight back to the old one. This new one has some really interesting features I loved - it has the speed limit signs, the awesome "mini exit map" that shows the exact exit to take, and a more updated-looking interface. All of the data was accurate.
  • Pros: Easy To Read, Large Screen
  • Cons: Acquires Satellites Slowly, Back Address Searching, Complicated Controls

Newer not necessarily better

Mile, Staples
15 July 2013
  • Excerpt: I bought a new Garmin because my old one died ( I suspect because I did not buy map upgrades. I use it to plan my route home through freeway vs side road traffic each night. On the old Garmin there was an amber or red sign for heavy traffic . This does not occur on the latest version ( ie no traffic map option).
  • Pros: Acquires Satellites Quickly, Large Screen
  • Cons: Freeways Too Narrow, No Redamber Traffic, No Screen Lock, Traffic Colors Difficult

Missing Streets

Traveling Ins. Appraiser, Staples
2 July 2013
  • Excerpt: My work takes me thru six states, I am finding more and more missing streets unit unable to locate addresses. Not user friendly does not give mileage to destination only time. Would not recomend to some one who has to rely on accurate locations.
  • Cons: Complicated Controls

My second Garmin product; this one is not great.

FRED, Amazon
29 November 2013
  • Summary: The voices I choose were "squelchy"; as if the speaker were speaking under-water... I also found that during local trips, the directions were incorrect. However, the delivery from Amazon, was great and the return of the defective device was also painless... thank you amazon!

Not impressed at all!

Paraglider, Amazon
25 August 2012
  • Summary: I bought this GPS to replace my three years old TomTom GO 630. I decided to try out Garmin this time around, and after being a happy user of TomTom for more than seven years, because I heard a lot of good things about Garmin such as better up-to-date maps, and more a intuitive software. I must say that I am glad I kept my old TomTom just in case! I would be better off with my old GPS than the new Garmin.
