Summary: I knew buying this, it was a couple of years old, but a bargain at the price. Much cheaper than buying a new SD card, or renting a GPS from the rental agency. No problems at all. As soon as we got off the plane in Melbourne, it came right up. Same when we went to New Zealand. The only place where being a couple of years old showed was in the urban area of Christchurch.
Summary: Don't listen to all the people complaining about these maps being out of date. I drove 3800 miles in New Zealand South Island with these maps, and they are wonderful. It helped me not only find my way around, but find gas stations, lodging, food and many other things. The only thing that might be out of date is the store for places to eat and such, but even then it is 80% accurate. The most important is to find your way around and it did the job perfectly.
Summary: Have yet to use the maps in NZ but have every expectation they will be the usual Garmin quality. Cannot imagine now what exploring a new country would be like without a good GPS to guide you, increases confidence, and therefore enjoyment, greatly.
Summary: I bought the Australia micro card for the Garmin because I go to Australia every year and I need to go places and there is always changes on the street direction so it help me not to get lost.
