Summary: What a joke - Garmin should be ashamed - I have used Gamin devices for years with no problem but the latest version of Garmin City Navigator Australia & New Zealand NT (2014) no longer includes the street I live on. It's been on all previous versions - now just, poof, gone.
Summary: i was wondering why newegg was offering this at such a discount price, i had to call Garmin on tech issue and found that this model came out in early 2008, i found a Garmin® nüvi® 1200 GPS Navigation System for 79.99 with free shipping to a store near you.
Pros: small size .....
Cons: no real time traffic, screen is too small, does not have eco-route feature, short battery life.
Changed from 1 to 5 stars - map updates no longer work
18 March 2011
Summary: Update: Dec 2014: I've had this a number of years. I have lifetime updates. The hardware works quite well, but Garmin Updates are horrible. And since Garmin dropped Garmin Communicator and came out with Garmin Express, I can no longer update this Garmin and support is of no help.
Summary: How useful is a good GPS that you can't mount in a car? Somewhat useful. Since I had already activated the lifetime maps feature and downloaded the maps by the time I discovered it will not fit into the mounting unit, I didn't think it would be returnable.
Pros: Works great as a GPS, has lifetime map updates.
Cons: The mounting bracket that clips on to the GPS so that you can attach it to the dashboard of a car does not fit the unit. It is too narrow. I tried for half an hour and three other people have tried, it just is too narrow for both clips to engage the unit at the same time.
Summary: I purchased this GPS to replace my old Garmin 340 that had for several years but just died. It's much smaller than my previous model so it takes up less room in my center console when not in use.
Summary: I had this gps for only a few months, used only a few times and it already broke. the screen freezes on me and takes a few days till it will go back to working use. this is not what i expected when i was looking into garmin gps because i heard they're supposed to be top of the line. oh well.
