Summary: I've had good luck with Garmin units, just bought a 265T to replace a 275T stolen from the car. The problem with the 250W is that it should be an $80 unit in today's market, Amazon has a regular price of $200 on it. Why not buy a 255W, or 265W instead, probably adding traffic (255WT or 265WT).
Summary: Loved the big bright screen. No problems with the routing or maps. I just got a dud, that didn't want to work when I plugged it into the cigarette lighter adapter. It worked fine while running on the internal battery but when I plugged into the power cord in the car, the unit would go into computer...
Summary: I purchased my 250W a couple months ago. In several occasion the GPS device failed to acquire signal within a few minutes. There were a few times when it took up to 15 minutes for it to find signal, even under clear sky outdoor.
Mixed review after trying out a nuvi 250w and a tomtom one xl
Chillin' Out, Amazon
2 January 2008
Summary: Well, I've had a garmin nuvi 250w and a tomtom one xl for two weeks now and have tested both out in Canada and the US, both on streets I am very familiar with and in areas I've never been before. They both cost exactly the same when I bought them so that isn't a consideration in my evaluations.
Excerpt: I love my TomTom, but when I saw one of these on Amazon for under £100 I just whipped out my credit card. My TomTom was an older version with standard 4:3 screen, so this promised to be a good update.
