Conclusion: "Worse than useless. Sometimes takes hours to locate signals making it completely redundant. Have tried it all over UK and France and had the same problem. Halfords informed that this was normal and Garmin refused to acccept anything was wrong, effectively also admitting that this was normal. TomTom from now on, will never buy another Garmin.
Buy a Garmin if you want to get ripped off on map updates

Summary: When I purchased my 250W I was told by the retailer that map updates were free downloads from their website. As soon as I started using the product I found the maps were outdated by at least 3 years, (roads in the area that had been built 2 years hence were not listed - roundabouts that had been removed still showed up). I wasn't worried because I just figured that as soon as an update was available I would download it.
Summary: when I first received this product, I liked everything about it--the big screen, the loud speaker, and all the features come with it. However, once I turned it on after not using it for a couple weeks, it took a LONG time to get the satellite reception, several hours!! I could have arrived at the destination and come back home with that much time. I ended up just looking up directions online. And this same problem occured every time after not using it for a while.
Summary: I bought this GPS for my second car. For my other car we bought the TomTom. We got a great deal on this model and thought that Garmin had a great name in GPS and decided to take a chance. Bad Choice - I was very surprised at the inaccuracy of the Garmin compared to TomTom. If I was going to the same place 5 times, I would get 5 different directions. After 1 month of getting lost and frustrated, I returned this item and went back to TomTom.
Pros: pantalla grande
Cons: insuficiente memoria al querer actualizar mapas
