  • Summary: Took my first long trip into unknown territory with the product and it performed well. I'm still learning the features, most notably I haven't figured out how to access/use the traffic information. I haven't figured out how to cancel an intermediate stop along my main route without cancelling the main route too. I don't know if there is a way. Voice interface is very handy to use, both before departing and especially while driving.

  • Summary: Easy to use, I really like the voice command feature. The Bluetooth is my only complaint so far, I have not been able to find a way of increasing the volume of the phone feature, and it does not have sufficient volume to talk comfortably. We will be using it for a 1800 mile trip next week, so I will be better able to evaluate it after the trip.

Pretty good but could be improved

C. Wilen, Amazon

  • Summary: This GPS unit is almost perfect except for a few things that I have on an older model that this one does not. The missing or otherwise less than perfect things: Wall charger-only a car charger was included; Earphone jack-I had my old GPS set up to play through the car's speakers using an aux jack and I could also use it as a hands-free speaker for my bluetooth phone and play that through the car's speakers; direction list option - when I want to see the list of...

Detailed comparison w/Garmin 1690 -- traffic not as good; Smartphone Link app details

Brian Morris, Amazon

  • Summary: [Amazon is pooling 2495 and 2455 reviews -- pay close attention -- this is for 2495LMT; 2455 doesn't have voice recognition or bluetooth] I've owned the Garmin nuvi 1690 for about two years now (as of 2/2013) and I really like it, but I'm afraid that my free traffic information will expire at any time (it's served up by AT&T towers and not lifetime), I'd like to have multi-point route editing, spoken road names and a newer set of maps.

Great features, but....

  • Summary: I really love all of the features on this Garmin, but as a previous owner of a Garmin, I have a few little gripes with this model. I'd still buy it again, but that being said, if you are exceeding the speed limit, your current speed changes the color red, which at night, is muddy, and difficult to read. The other "flaw," I think, is the standard voice. It's "computer" sounding, has a flat affect, and is a lot worse than my older model (a four year old model).

Excellent GPS in MOST respects but a few annoyances

  • Summary: UPDTATED with a major Con after 7 months of use: I used a TomTOm for years and was reasonbly happy with it but its maps are hopelessly out of date so I decided to upgrade. Pros: *Menus are easier than TomTom *Screen is easy to read *Screen mount works VERY well. It is easy to attach (remember to wet it slightly). It clamps the suction cup on by throwing a lever which is more secure than the TomTom way of pressing it on the glass.

"CNET got it all wrong"

  • Pros: Bluetooth syncs flawlessly with iPhone 4S. Phonebook loads instantly. Maps are accurate. Minimal traffic ads.
  • Cons: Speaker for directions a little quiet.

Great GPS but could have a better Route Planner

13 May 2012
  • Summary: I've been driving with my Nuvi 2495 for about 6 weeks in my Mazda Miata mostly with the top down and i like it a lot. The screen is bright enough to easily see even in a convertible. I like to use it vertically and the screen with it's icons and windows seem to be well thought out for vertical use. I was amazed that the voice control work even when driving down the highway at 70 with the top down! POI are very good.
