Voice Recognition Doesn't Work and Traffic Adviseries are Just Annoying
28 July 2014
Summary: I paid extra for this unit to get the voice recognition and traffic alerts. Neither work worth a flip. The navigation works fine. If I were rating the navigation only it would get four stars, but the navigation is just like the cheaper models.
Summary: I purchased this model for $50 more for the voice command feature. It doesn't understand anything I say. For example, I say "120 washington Ave, Orangeburg, NY" it responds with 15 tomahawk st, osh kosh, ID! OK, s I try it again... 1-2-0 Waa-shi-ng-ton a-v-e-n-u-e... you get the point...
Summary: This is the 4th Garmin I have used. It by far is the most disappointing. The pluses are that it is faster calculating routes than the second generation models. There were several reasons I disliked this model. First, the traffic feature is practically worthless.
Summary: October 20, 2013 update: I have now had to have this replaced twice because the Bluetooth function stopped working. After over a month of the "engineers trying to troubleshoot" there was still no solution so I requested replacement.
Summary: Worked great out of the box. Neat little gadget. Then I tried to update the maps. First, their site said it needed a firmware update, which I installed. Garmin must have the slowest server on the planet. It took 36 hours to download the current North America map.
Summary: I WAD such a big Garmin fan. I've had my one and only for three years and in the meantime it seems things are changing. First, if you've read other reviews you know advertising is a major complaint.
Summary: I have not had a sat nav before so I thought I'd get the Garmin with Cyclops and lifetime maps. The first day was fine. I set it up online and got an email from Garmin thanking me for registering it.
Summary: My first sat-nav was a Garmin, but 4 years down the line, and around £75 for new maps, I thought I may as well buy a new unit with lifetime maps (and traffic). Perfect size, easy to use, it's a great device.
