Summary: When I received this product. IT was not in a sealed original box. Got it out turned it on . It was in a foreign language. Went to set home address and another address was already in it. In a city all the way across the country. Lots of addresses saved and all of then The other side of the country. Guess What they sold me a used Garmin. When the listing said a new one. And charged me new one price. And being a Prime Member this makes me wonder.....
Summary: My third Garmin. Happy with the device itself. However, the Garmin website and separate updater software on the Apple Mac do not play together at all. Worst of all, the update downloader restarts a long, tedious download each time the download is interrupted. Nor is "This will take a while to complete" an accurate, updated estimate of the status of the download or projection of how long the download will take to complete.
Summary: I have used Garmin marine GPS systems for about 20 years and have found them great. Not so sure about this road system. I bought this as an option to discontinuing the Hyundai Blue Link service, which is clumsy and even more expensive. Have used the Garmin unit for over a week. The documentation that comes in the box is useless other than to turn it on unless you have used other such products extensively before. The online pdf manual isn't much better.
Summary: This was my fourth Garmin and the prior three were good and I still have them as back up and for my other cars. This new garmin did not recognize my voice commands and got the number and street wrong 100% of the time, then after only 3 days the garmin quit working and i had to use my backup model. The only good news is Amazon stood behind their refund and I got my money back.
Summary: My first Garmin nuvi 2495 LMT worked great for about two weeks before it froze, crashed, went dark and stayed that way. Nothing I tried would get it to work again. So I returned it through Amazon for another one. This one worked for about a month before the same thing happened. It died during a cross country trip when I was depending on it.
Summary: It feel like GPS from 5y ago - charging cable is double core and massive, you also need to have a 'aerial' wire dangling on your dashboard to recieve all traffic information. So when unpacking I felt like I have bought some very old type. Traveling in Czech Republic (as I purchase complete Europe maps) - terrible experience in there - sat nav did not acknowledge newly build (8 years) motorway and drag us beside it - to save 5 minutes of travelling time.
Summary: Absolutely shocking service from Garmin. I bought a machine that turned out to be faulty, phoned Garmin for help, but this still did not help. I then emailed the company and was told to return the item by recorded delivery for a replacement. This was a month ago, and Garmin have just quibbled about my purchase of it through Amazon, emails have gone back and forth, but a month later I still do not have a replacement, neither have they communicated with me since their last...
