Summary: Bad news in Canada. It took a short cut to save 0.5 miles and put us on a dirt road. Took me an extra hour to get out of that situation once I found a local person. Also along the highway we were continually off route but I knew where we were so it did not create addition problems. Finding your way thru the menu is a nighmare and putting in another route or modfying existing route is difficult. Still it is small in size and the screen size is okay.
Summary: I was impressed by the many features the unit purported it to be: the ease at which it recalculated in case one changes the route without the annoying announcement of "recalculating", the screen dividing and showing the junction picture as one approaches the exit and many friendly features aiding the navigation or search for a point of interest along the route.
Summary: I got this one because it has Lifetime maps and does Canada and Mexico. But so far, in Northeast US I am not impressed. I have done test runs where it takes me into urban areas that are not necessary or desirable. I must say it is better in rural areas. The toll road setting was chosen, but it still takes me on meandering back roads. To tell the truth I recommend going 4G and doing it all from one device you use everyday.
Summary: I purchased this unit to replace my nuvi 255W that developed a touch-screen glitch. I wanted the same size since I have a Ram Aqua-box set up for use on my motorcycle. The GPS itself is great, the split-screen feature showing your upcoming exit in realistic detail is a VERY cool feature. Since I had the Garmin app on my computer and had backed up my old nuvi on it, all of my favorites were a snap to load into this new unit.
Summary: Out of the box, this is a great device. The basic user interface is easy and intuitive to use, although it's worth reading the manual to get some useful tips. My problem, however, is with the "lifetime map update" that comes with this unit. The first two or three updates were easy; but the most recent update gave me an error message after downloading 59% of the file, and the Garmin software (Garmin Express) gave me no way to recover or proceed.
Summary: When I bought the item, I thought it had lifetime map updates. But later found out it did not have lifetime map updates. If you are not worried about the Lifetime Map updates (which I think is key for any GPS), it is a great GPS. You can type address easily. Life Traffic update is helpful.
Summary: This 2455MLT GPS has no security PIN that I can find. If it gets stolen, the thief can continue to use it. 2455 does not announce a recalculation if a turn is missed. I'd like it to. It must be in the programming? I've used the model 255W, now an older model, and love it. I will continue to lean on the 255W. I like the voice Samantha, not available with this new one. Samantha enunciates clearly.
Summary: Purchased this as my Megellen had been stolen. This unit was refubished but appears and operates like brand new. I gave it a three because I find it is not as intuitive as the Megellen. After many atempts it couldn't find my home address which has been here at least fifteen years. Overall it seems to be a good value.
