Summary: I thought this unit was really good, until I went to Calgary this past week. Updated maps 2 weeks ago. Took 1/1/2 hrs. for a 30 minute drive from the airport because the unit took me round and round and through downtown. Put in another address and it wanted to take me to a city in BC. These were NOT new streets. I have a 4 year old TomTom that would get me to these addresses. No more Garmin for me.
Summary: Its a European model and wasn't able to load North American maps, send it to Garmin w/ accessories , they send me back a new model w/o accessories ,now i'm waiting for them to send the accessories, meanwhile I went on a 1400 mile trip w/o a GPS. Your mistake caused me problems and time wasted.I spend three hours on the phone w/ a Garmin tech trying to load American maps to no avail.
WASTES MORE TIME THAN IT SAVES/DOESN'T RECOGNIZE MOST ADDRESSES/ALWAYS LOST
6 January 2014
Summary: I hate this thing! Even when entering a full/correct address it doesn't recognize an address. And yet, if I re-enter just using the company name it shows with the SAME ADDRESS!? I have to try 2-4 different entry options before it will recognize a location! It randomly takes me off-route for no reason and without requesting an alternate route! It gets street names wrong causing me to miss exits! It doesn't show the full route, only the starting point!
Summary: I thought the community should know that Amazon overcharged me $30 due to a site malfunction and then refused to assist in adjusting the total when it was brought to their attention. I'm a prime member with over 200 successful orders and have never contacted support until this order. What I found was a big surprise to me that they care nothing about their customers and will allow them to be overcharged with no recourse.
Summary: This product does not says anywhere that it is a Refurbished Unit!. It sells as new on this ad, but it is a used one. I call Amazon and even the customer service agent, told me that he doesn't see any "refurbished" word in the product description. The information is misleading!
Summary: I think the GPS that we got is defective. After downloading current maps, It shows roadways that have not existed for years. It also shows only liquor stores when you try to search for food locations. Also the locations that it shows are over a hundred miles from the GPS's current location. We had the same model and it worked very well. We ordered this one to replace it when it was stolen. We will attempt to have the defective GPS replaced with the same model.
Summary: I have a 80$ Tomtom which I bought 2 yrs back and I think it does a better job than this. 3 Major Drawbacks I have noticed. 1) The traffic update feature is a joke. It hugely over estimates traffic delays and takes me through diversion which would take 5 times longer than if I had got stuck in the traffic. 2) Incomplete directory. Just one instance to prove this point. I typed in DMV in the the search box and it did not find the DMV office 3 miles from my home.
Summary: First - some good words about the device. One of the best features of the device is that it has a power/sleep button that places it in sleep and wakes it up almost instantly. This is a great power saving feature. Looks like in the sleep state the device can spend several weeks until the battery discharges. So when I want to use it, it spends just several seconds to re-lock on the satellites.
Summary: The previous 2400 series nuvi GPSs allowed either direct download, or via SD card, of topographical maps for other use (hiking, etc). This unit does not, and I found nowhere in the product literature which state this change had occurred. I did not find out until after purchase when I tried to download topo maps to my unit, and subsequently called Garmin support. They state they know about the issue, and at this point have no 'fix' date.
Summary: Trying to make the trip from Sunnyvale, Ca to Felton, Ca the main hwy is hwy 17 over the mountains, that's a no brainer yet this gps tried to get us to take Bear Canyon Road which is a twisty curvy tiny back woods road. Had someone not known better or been driving a large vehicle this would have been a disaster and yes I checked my settings. Even at the summit it tried to have us turn off on Summit Rd and go the back way into Felton, a tragic error that would be.
